I nearly made a comment that it seemed like there was blood in the water on this forum the last week or two - Now I'm glad I didn't...

Just engage with those other people who are excited, or say something about the amazing films that might help create interest.

There are so many happy people, that it seems odd to focus on the ones who just don't care.
Wouldn't it be ideal if those people just kept quiet, then, since they aren't contributing anything?

Actually , I dont have any opinions of you and if I did you shouldnt care. Who are you anyway? No one to me. Maybe it wasnt clear enough or written clear enough.
And you are one step behind me when it comes to not caring...

You clearly care - You can't stop posting about it.

No it is more like you cant stop quoting me - and like anyone else would , I am simply responding to you who cares enough to quote me over and over...I seem to be getting quoted quite a bit, wish I could say I was flattered...and I am entitled to defend myself...God knows why, its not like youre worth my time or anything.
If you have nothing better to do besides quote me, thats your problem, it is not my fault you care so much about dragging this on and on. Here is an idea for you - just ignore me and let the posts about Criterion movies come through. And if you dont like my opinion of the movies, fine with me.
We can actually move on from this by the way

In discussing the actual movies, has anyone seen these two titles from Ray?

No, but I've read a bit about them. I've only seen the Apu films (which it now seems won't be coming until at least 2014) and The Music Room. Charulata is widely considered to be one of his best films.

I'll pick up To Be or Not to Be, Seconds, and might blind buy Earrings, looks interesting. But of course I would have preferred something like Tess, Life Aquatic, or the Killers.

Regarding the arguments if this is a weak month, or if it's cool because it's not mainstream, I prefer when it's split mainstream/obscure to please everyone. But serious question, I always see wish lists before the announcements, so did ANYONE have ANY of these 5 releases on their wish lists that they posted on here?

I watched the Music Room for the first time yesterday. It started slow for me, but the last half of the film was absolutely brilliant.

Good wish list. I still have the dvd's for the Sturges films. Lady Eve would make for a great upgrade. Barbara Stanwyck is mesmerizing in it.

I'll blind buy Earrings of Madame De for a good price. This is why people shouldn't get too disappointed with release announcements, because the great thing about Criterion is you can discover films you never would have seen nor heard of if they didn't release them.

It'll be a blind buy for me too, but I've been very keen on trying it since Filmspotting discussed it recently.

Part of the reason I got into Criterion releases was the fact that it is helping me discover so much more in film.

Having seen 9 out of 15 titles from the Alfred Hitchcock: The Masterpiece Collection, I can rank them in the following order:

1. Rear Window
2. Vertigo
3. The Trouble With Harry
4. Psycho
5. North By Northwest
6. The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956)
7. Shadow Of A Doubt
8. Saboteur
9. Rope

Excited to watch The Birds within the next day or so. The other 5 don't really interest me, but I'll still watch them.
