Just saying/guessing Three Samurai/Samurai Trilogy. New Years' clue & certainly open to interpretation.

Also, there was Ruth Gordon in Harold and Maude / Rosemary's Baby (on motorcycle with pentagram necklace).

Eek I hope not! I had to sell mine recently (I was broke) and I have been meaning to re-buy it once it is affordable again!

Tuna fishing plays prominently in "Stromboli" (although not sure whether it takes place in Roma or Napoli, as "Journey to Italy" takes place in Sicily.)

That itself is an important clue, as you can't tune a piano in the Mediterranean, but you can tuna fish.

Does Criterion no longer offer replacement cases for Last Year at Marienbad? I'm not seeing them on their site. I tried buying this along with the replacement case from a member on here, but it appears he's flaking out on me. So I'm moving on. Everything else I've come across, on here or ebay, is a digipak release.

Their probly ran out of stock I remember it was backorder during the announcement, no reason to print artwork for an out of print title. I would try emailing them for a special request , they still sell the clear cases.

Thanks. I just sent John an email. I wasn't aware of the replacement case situation for this. It just seemed kind of odd that they wouldn't have replacement cases for Marienbad, but they still have them for TMWFTE.

I ordered one of these shortly after the OOP announcement was made. I think it was listed as back-ordered at that time. I'm guessing there was a big rush to buy them (following the OOP announcement). Before I ordered, I had questions about it and wrote to Criterion. They indicated to me that I order it soon because they wouldn't be printing any new covers since it's now OOP. Once it's gone, it's gone. (Unfortunately, I didn't save the correspondence, but it was something on that order).

EDIT: Catching up on old news in here ... and just noticed the reply from jcez28. I guess I'm repeating what he/she said. Oops.

Criterion would have surely announced an out-of-print notice. America Lost and Found has been at a low price for a long time on Amazon, so it's probably just normal price fluctuation. (It's selling for $80 right now instead of $63.)

I want to buy this box set in person, so I'm waiting to grab it from Barnes & Noble in the not-too-distant future.

True, but at that point they had already announced Three Outlaw Samurai, so the clue was likely only referring to the Samurai Trilogy.

Good call. I bought mine from Amazon recently because I didn't want to wait for the sale. It isn't in bad shape necessarily but not perfect like I really wanted it to be.

I haven't seen it, but I'm sure it would make a good addition. John Huston has made some terrific films, some of which are not on BluRay (Asphalt Jungle, Beat the Devil, The Dead).

By the way, has everybody seen his hour long documentary on WWII Post Traimatic stress called Let there be Light? It's the film that inspired Paul Thomas Anderson's The Master and is included in the BluRay release of the film.

Never seen it, looks intriguing, will check it out. I love all of Huston's work that I've seen, which is most of it. I didn't warm up to Wise Blood on the first viewing but upon revisiting I've come to appreciate it. Under the Volcano is one of my favorite Criterion DVDs and would also make a worthy upgrade. What a performance by Albert Finney! One of the things I love most about Huston's work involves the choice of locations and the ways that he captures times and places as much as characters - Under, Wise Blood, Night of the Iguana, and of course the Dead are nicely representative of this quality and achievement.
