Some incredibly silly stuff going on these last couple pages that I don't even want to touch.

There's a UK release of NXNE, Strangers on a Train, and Dial M For Murder. They all have standalone cases that are just housed in a slipbox. Figured it was the easiest and cheapest way for me to get them all.

The problem I had was with Pitt's character. I felt nothing for him because the movie didn't really give us anything of his character. He never showed emotion and generally came across as completely empty. He just seemed swept up with his own life but never actively participated in it. I'm not sure if it was the script or Pitt's portrayal, but something just wasn't right.

The Fox does the summer film festival every year. I fulfilled another item on my cinematic bucket list two weekends ago by seeing Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds.

On the Fox Theatre sound system, the bird sounds were gloriously loud. During the climax, it sounded as though the birds were outside the theatre.

I was checking this out as well, but I already own North by Northwest and can get the other two next time B&N has a comprehensive Blu-ray sale. It's a cool box, though!

I haven't read the book, so I'm not sure if the adaptation was changed at all. However, I personally feel that Benjamin Button did have a lot of emotion. When the film began, he was so confused to the world around him that he couldn't help but make people laugh, cry, get annoyed with him, etc. When he meets Daisy, he's immediately falling in love with her and knows that it probably won't work out until they both are at relatively the same age. There was a powerful romance told through those two characters and it was pretty emotional, in my opinion.

I liked the way the film was set up as well. I really enjoyed the storytelling narrative.

I agree. I was a blubbering mess when I saw it in theaters, and I'm not ashamed to admit as much.

It's been over two years since I last saw it, I really need to revisit it very soon.

The ending was really emotional, especially after they had Caroline.

I don't think that Benjamin Button would be worth getting during the Criterion sale because since the Blu-Ray and DVD are actually distributed by Paramount, you can find it cheaper at other places. Heck, during Black Friday, I got it for $3.99!

Yeah it was $5 last U&S at best buy but that doesn't mean its not really good film.

Maybe this has been answered already, but why is it that Benjamin Button Criterion comes in the standard blu case unlike other Criterion releases? Is this because its distributed by Paramount.

Babette's Feast Blu-ray REVIEW

I would also like to recommend this outstanding Danish film (see below), which was lensed by Babette's cinematographer, Henning Kristiansen. It won Best Actor Award at Cannes in 1966 (Per Oscarsson). The release is excellent. It was produced by Project X, but it was distributed by New Yorker Video. Very atmospheric film

Book? It was a short story about six pages long, and then just a "Curious Case" medical-history description of what happened in his life.
http://www.readbookonline.net/read/690/10628/
It was only the scriptwriter that padded it out by plugging in the shrimp and box-chocolate.

(The same complaints we children's-book experts have when 24 illustrated pages of Shrek, Polar Express or Dr. Seuss are padded out to corny studio-manipulative Hollywood length by making screenwriter crap up, but no, this is, oo, Fincher! And Criterion! )

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's because it's distributed by Paramount, although the Criterion DVD comes in the typical clear case.

I don't like Benjamin Button (I also don't like Forrest Gump, but I'll save the very political rant for a different thread). I'm very hit or miss with Fincher as a filmmaker, some of his films like Fight Club, The Game, Zodiac, Social Network, and even the assembly cut of Alien 3 I absolutely adore. The rest like the remake of Dragon Tattoo, Benjamin Button, Panic Room, etc. I can live without.
