Default Criterion Collection Discussion

WHERE THE HELL IS ERASERHEAD?!?! (Scanners would have been nice, too.)

I think I might just buy Eraserhead on DVD. The Uninvited is a nice surprise though. I've been wanting to see Eyes Without a Face too.

From the New Year's Drawing and strong rumors these could be the titles for November and December?

Cronenberg Collection: The Brood, Scanners, Rabid, Shivers

It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World

The Kid (the next Chaplin)

Tess

Picnic at Hanging Rock

Eraserhead

Mulholland Drive

Le Samourai (upgrade)
Those are enough for two more months of releases (plus one or two titles). Lets hope!

Oh no. You'll have to wait one more month for Cronenberg - maybe two! What jerks!

I think we'll get The Kid, Tess and All That Heaven Allows (and more, maybe Le Samouraï) in November, and Eraserhead and Scanners in December. November tends to be a BIG month and December a bit more low key, with B-movies or horror titles the past few years. There are other titles still dangling, like Grey Gardens, Y Tu Mama Tambien, Zatoichi...

I thought I read somewhere that someone in this forum just recently bought Eyes Without a Face last week on Criterion DVD.

Can anyone verify this?

And if you're the person who bought the DVD, I hope you didn't open it yet! (might as well return it and wait until the BD in October, no?).

That certainly would make for a great last two months!

Boy (1969) and La Strada were also hinted from the New Years drawing. Also, let's not forget how we're STILL waiting for Grey Gardens and Y Tu Mama Tambiem.

I have to give credit to Criterion for a very strong year. The last couple of years have not impressed me much, but I am loving the mix this year. November will be big and even the "off" month at the end of the year will probably have at least one big title. Scanners was the first thing that jumped out at me in the New Year's clue but if they somehow don't get around to it this year I won't even care.

That clue with the clown was for Yoyo. Would love it if they did upgrade it though cause I've been dying for more Fellini on blu!

Oh please. You'll get your announcements soon enough. No need to be disappointed. You know it's coming.

Criterion should be commended, now more than ever, for delivering the unexpected. They've been delivering a mix to satisfy most film buffs.

Ditto. They've put out more than enough for me to be satisfied, and we haven't even gotten to the month of the year.

Opened, and watched it the other night.

So if anyone wants to thank me personally for the Blu-ray release, go ahead lol.

At least this place is consistent. Every announcement time, like clockwork, some random poster invariably pops out of the woodwork to proudly proclaim their ignorance! Wouldn't really feel like announcement time without the threadcraps.

So stoked for Eyes without a Face! Love that movie! Also, The Cassavetes set looks great. I've only seen Shadows but that'll still be a day one purchase for me...well actually, the next bn sale will be around the corner. Maybe I'll wait a bit.
