Did I read this right? Some new possible Criterions going out of print? Holy mackerel! Glad I own The 400 Blows... but believe it or not, I still don't have Breathless. MUST....BUY....SOON!

Oh man, I really never wish to be suspended again. But now it makes me appreciate life even more when I am not suspended. JW007 is back though!

It seems that as of now these are only rumours. I have yet to see any hard evidence, for that matter. Of course to be on the safe side you might wanna grab a copy just in case. No such thing as too many Criterions on the shelf.

No, Band of Outsiders and Weekend were licensed fom Gaumont, Virve sa vie was licensed from Les Films du Jeudi and Breathless was licensed from Pretty Pictures. (The Breathless DVD was originally licensed from Genius Entertainment, who got the rights when they acquired Fox Lorber/Winstar, but I believe that they went out of business a few years ago.)

for breathless there are still multiple source to buy from (marketplace sellers@ amazon / ebay sellers with a few copys)

but both are gone from the current B&N sale

im not much into godard as well , i didnt like "une femme marie" at all. but breathless looks kinda interessting

400 blows looks like to be a little bit "rare" on ebay and amazon as well (at least for international customers). criterion might be still selling both but nobody knows how many copys they have left, 10, 20? 200?

Well I just reserved the last copy of Breathless at my local B&N, whether or not the film is going OOP isn't a concern of mine, I am just happy to be finally pulling the trigger on the amazing film. I guess all it takes for me are rumors that the film is going OOP and bam it's mine.

Only if I want it of course.

Well, there was talk when Playtime went OOP that it was to make way for a reissue, so I'm hoping it's that one.

criterion has way to much "must have" movies. thats the problem. ask 10 people what their favorite 10 criterion movies are and you will probably get 100 different movies to choose from.
