And don't forget, the International Esperanto community celebrates Zamenhof Day tomorrow.

That's going to shut offices down the world over.

Ironic that I'm eating like a glutton with a decadent cupcake in my hand while the film is about a man who goes on a deadly hunger strike. Well, I ate that cupcake (or two) in about 5 minutes before all the shit-smearing prison cell walls came into focus (so I didn't lose my appetite).

Last night I watched this film again and it made me realize just how brilliant Steve McQueen as a director is. That 17 minute shot of two men sitting at a table is just incredible. The best part is, it comes right in the middle of the film, where most of the time the weakest material is in the very middle of a film. Yet, this was the strongest scene and its right in the middle. It's a 4 star film.
Yeah, Hunger is absolutely fantastic; a real-triumph of film-making. I find 12 Years A Slave to be a much better film but Hunger is one heckva debut!

With William Shatner as Master of Ceremonies that's a given.

I hope you are wrong. Can't wait till Monday for the announcement. Definatley more Cronenberg, more Polanski, and Lynch of course.

However, and I say this every month, please let there be a release of Le Samourai!

Just a little heads up. TCM will show The Naked City and Rififi on November 27.

That's cool with me. I'm always in a buoyant frame of mind on Fridays anyway, because I know that I've got a fun weekend ahead of me, and Criterion announcements on the following Monday would take the sting out of that being the first day of a long work week, as well as giving me something nice to look forward to on a Monday. It would be like having another Friday at the beginning of a week.

Especially if In a Lonely Place and The Lady from Shanghai are announced.

Been waiting for 25th Hour to get a Criterion release, it deserves it. At the very least a bluray transfer. Can not wait for Thief. Compulsively want to blind buy Zatouchi.

I desperately want a BD upgrade. My DVD simply does not cut it anymore.

For those complaining about lack of coupons or coupons with odd restrictions, just be glad you aren't buying instruments (specifically guitars and amps) from a website. The list of excluded brands is longer than the brands that'll take the coupon, it's a joke!

Funny thing, I just ended up ordering Hunger instead of any of the above! Watched Shame last night and want to start collecting McQueen flicks. Shame was quite eye opening but I'm not sure about the re-watch value.

So, I watched Frances Ha last night, and absolutely loved it. I'll be picking up the Blu before the sale is over. A great performance by Greta Gerwig, excellent direction by Baumbach, and, though this may sound shallow, the movie just made me happy. I don't think I've ever seen a better film about friendship.

Also, I'd like to add that the comments about it on Facebook make me kind of ashamed to be such a fan of Criterion. Kind of like whenever Lena Dunham comes up in discussion.

Yea the ones that did ship, shipped next day like usual, the rest got delayed, and now got delayed another month apparantly (even though the actual page still says 24 hour ship http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/dvd-...n=715515090612)

Unfortunately, the merchandise listed below has been further delayed. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to fulfill your order soon. To keep your order open, we must have your approval for a 30-Day Order Extension. Unfortunately, if we don't get approval from you for the extension within the next 24 hours, we'll have to cancel this part of your order.
Got a weird feeling this is going to lead to "sorry we had to cancel everything" in a couple weeks for some reason

What do you mean? Just checked, the 3 reasons Frances Ha comments seem to be overwhelmingly positive...

Since you're a big Antonioni fan, I predict that you will love Rossellini's Journey to Italy. I was fortunate with timing, because I ended up watching this film the night before I saw La Notte last week.

I've only seen Europe 51 out of the set, but I do expect to love Journey. It should be a scenic treat!

What were your thoughts on La Notte?

Honestly, Journey To Italy was my least favorite of the set...but that's not saying much as I gave it a 3/4.

Stromboli is my favorite.
