Very excited about FOREIGN CORRESPONDENT. The current DVD has visual flaws that I hope Criterion can address and correct.

Oh.

I did not read the sentence about a special edition of Blue is the Warmest Color appearing at a later date.

As such, I'll simply wait for that bigger special edition to come out.

Looks like my February haul will be...

Foreign Correspondent
Jules and Jim
Tess

Alfred Hitchcock is my all-time favorite director, and I'm looking forward to adding this film to my collection of all of the Region A Hitchcock Blu-ray releases.
I am looking forward to having another Jeanne Moreau film in my collection. Moreau is one of the greatest actresses in cinema history.
I am looking forward to having another Nastassja Kinski film in my collection.

I'm buying Tess and Blue Is the Warmest Color. Maybe King of the Hill too.

I don't feel any need right now to upgrade from the current Fantastic Mr. Fox Blu-ray but it's great to finally see animation in the Collection again.

Buy it when it's on Sale:
Foreign Correspondent
Tess
King of the Hill

Maybe:
Fantastic Mr. Fox (Watched it already, and I have another copy)

Won't buy:
Breathless (I owned the BD edition)
Blue is the Warmest Color (Wait for the later version)

It isn't a problem as long as they don't avoid announcing any other title because of it. Since today they announced 7 i guess it's ok, since they don't usually release more than 6 individual blu-ray releases.

I read a misinformed post on another forum about how supplements were added, so if that was the case, it would be a waste of time and effort (I also just don't care for Breathless whatsoever). Seeing as how that isn't true, yes, the combo pack makes sense

Criterion seems to have a rollercoaster release month deal with my personal tastes.

Disappointed for December
Extremely excited for January
Semi-Disappointed for February.

I'll be getting the latest Hitchcock release but that's about it. From the responses though, everyone seems happy so I'm at least glad so many people are getting releases they're stoked for! (That means hopefully March will be another "hit" month for me).

I've really enjoyed the Wes Anderson releases but not sure how the animated Wes comes across; I've never seen Fox and I really had no desire to. I might have to Netflix it and see what it's about.

Sounds like a big month. I'm buying:

Jules and Jim
Foreign Correspondent
Fantastic Mr. Fox
Tess (blind buy)

Will likely rent Blue is the Warmest Color or wait for the SE. Already own Breathless.

Fantastic Mr. Fox is wonderful and my personal favorite Anderson film. The animation is brilliant, the film is charming and it's a great piece of work overall.

Not sure how well you like the other Anderson films, but it's a charmingly delightful film and something of a return to form after Darjeeling.

Without a doubt! Anderson was in quite the rut during the mid 2000s. Yeesh.

Hey! Life Aquatic was mid-2000s. That's my favorite film of his by far.

And then read the Roald Dahl children's book, and you will know what it's about. You won't find out here.
(The creator of Willy Wonka was doing real "dysfunctional" back when Wes was in his stroller with his sippy-cup of Evian.)

The movie LITERALLY plays like a nasty SNL sketch of "What if Wes Anderson did an animated kiddy film?"
And if they did write one, it would be hard to top.

I liked the "What if Wes Anderson made a slasher movie..."
Edward Norton plays a great Owen Wilson.

"Hey, wow. We're saved."

At least Criterion warns you about a pending Special Edition of Blue is the Warmest Color. Most of the time there is no heads up about a upcoming Double Dip. I'm fine getting this version, I barely watch the supplements anyway.

Since we're doing wishlists...

More Kurosawa (esp. The Hidden Fortress)
More Chaplin (The Kid, The Circus)
Pandora's Box
Le Samouraļ
Mulholland Drive

Pretty basic stuff, really.

Did I mention that I am excited about another Jeanne Moreau film? Of course, I did.

I shall make a double-feature night out of La Notte and Jules and Jim in February.

I will also keep my fingers crossed for Elevator to the Gallows, Touchez Pas Au Grisbi, and The Lovers to be upgraded. I've never seen Diary of a Chambermaid, but let's get that one upgraded as well on general principle.
