Yes, I put in a preorder for Red River and Ace in the Hole on Saturday. So far it hasn't been canceled.

On edit: Though Under Capricorn was distributed by Warner Bros, they must not own it; the DVD was released by Image. At any rate, it would be nice if they released a Blu-ray equivalent of the Alfred Hitchcock: The Signature Collection DVD boxed set.

The Paradine Case is owned by MGM?
I would assume so, yes. It was a Selznick production, like Rebecca and Spellbound.

I don't know who does but Warner Bros has no rights to Under Capricorn.

The rights to The Paradine Case are with Disney.

I thought Under Capricorn was public domain? If so, this might mean it needs a lot of work as it has no handler. I'm not crazy about the film but it was lensed by Jack Cardiff.

Mr and Mrs. Smith is sort of on blu-ray. You can see a scene or two of it on the Crimes and Misdemeanors blu-ray.

Zatoichi:The Blind Swordsman
Fantastic Mr. Fox

I really hope I don't miss the flash sale, so I can get 50% off srp plus free shipping on the Zatoichi set. I have never ordered anything from the Criterion website. Can anyone tell me if they do a good job with the packing/shipping of items?

I hadn't seen your reply when I edited my previous one with the same info.

Interesting. I wonder under what circumstances they acquired it.

Rebecca, Spellbound, Notorious, and The Paradine Case (along with several other Selznick pictures) were all released on DVD in 1999 by Anchor Bay, and then in 2008 by MGM. So I would've thought that The Paradine Case's ownership would still be with MGM like the other three.

But then, I suppose it being owned by Disney would explain why MGM didn't release it on Blu-ray along with the other three.

I'm not sure why The Paradine Case wasn't released along with the other three but they should all be a part of the Selznick library, which Disney (who obtained it by acquiring ABC Pictures) licensed out to MGM.

Everything I've ever ordered from Criterion.com has been packaged extremely well.

It's been awhile since I've watched my DVD, so I just popped it into my laptop to see if there might be an added title card that would indicate an owner. There isn't. Interestingly enough, it still starts off with the original Warner Bros card (Warner did distribute the film in the US back on its first release).

The Image catalog number on the DVD is ID5443KWDVD. The "KW" suffix is for "Kinowelt", which I believe is a German company. Perhaps they're the ones that own the film. The copyright on the DVD is assigned to the original production company, Transatlantic Pictures.

As for the quality of the picture, it's a bit soft and the colors somewhat faded. And it could definitely use some clean-up (along with the audio). But all in all, it's not in that bad a shape. I've certainly seen a lot worse.

Jamaica Inn is with Cohen but I haven't heard anything about Under Capricorn, unfortunately. I find it a very interesting film and hope to one day see Jack Cardiff's cinematography in something better than the old Image DVD

Now that you say that, I recall hearing about that chain of acquisition way back when. Thanks.
