I want to say that I read somewhere this was going to Magnet (who are a good company in their own right). I could be very wrong, though.

I just might import the UK Blu Ray so I can see it sooner.

Uk blu is cut version, not Lar's 5 hour cut.

Its been leaked online though, is also on VOD.

I hope CC release the full version, no idea why the VOD does thane option for longer cut :/

Question.. for JW or anyone: you said that you saw your first JC film and then watched a long documentary film on him. I can't bring myself to watch some of the special features on the Criterion discs because I feel I haven't seen everything that might be considered essential viewing from the director. Example: I've only seen 4 Godard films, so I won't watch some of the special features yet. I've seen 29 of Hitch's 52, but because I haven't seen Sabotage or Foreign Correspondent, I am hesitant to watch the bonus content. The actress Gene Tierney has been a recent discovery for me, but because I haven't seen The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, I won't watch the A&E bio that is on the Laura blu-ray disc.

Anybody else do this? I can't wait to see some of this bonus content, but I don't want to have parts of other films spoiled for me either which has happened in the past.

I can only go off the Criterions I have watched but I find the bonus /extras that come with the package to be specific to that film only, not the Director or actors involved. I have certainly not had any "spoilers" in regards to their other work.

happend to me yesterday. was watching "strangers on a train" for the very first time ever. the bonus features did spoil the end of north by northwest (without any warning at all).

but that happens a lot of time with old movies.... i did know what happens in psychso as well but did still enjoy the movie , while i was watching it for the first time.

You know, both volumes keep it pretty classy compared to what people were thinking. It does start to get a little more extreme but it never crosses over into trashy.

I highly enjoyed the whole experience and can't wait for a bluray release.

Gotta be careful with the Scorsese introductions. He'll spoil films, too!

The Digression Trilogy? Yes it had certain elements that liked to A and M but just didn't have that feel to it.

It was more of a celebration of all his work, I do love Nymph though, I adore the digressions and the structure to it, Little Organ School wad a very powerful but haunting chapter, but then again I am obsessed with that Bach piece!

I sorta wish Nympho was more depressing and hopeless, and maybe had a few slow mo shots and wish he used chalkboard for the NYMPH()MANIAC title card, just to give it that look.

I also don't didn't feel it was that controversial, then again nor was Melancholia, I just was hoping nymph would have been same level as Antichrist, beautiful yet hanging, feels you with dread but you can't help watch it, another dark fairy tale.

Need to see the full version though, Part II lacked a lot compared to the first chapter, HATED the floating scene as it was just poorly done, much like those bells at end of Breaking The Waves. I loved the danger to part II, just wish Part I had that danger.

People are calling this is Magnus Opus, while it was fantastically made, and such fresh film - I still film Dogville and Antichrist are his best work.
I can agree with this... Definitely not his all time greatest as Dogville is just a masterpiece. Absolutely genious...

Volume 2 does not quite pack the punch in its finale that his other work has produced and does have some off moments... Random Rammstein metal lol. (However you spell the bands name)

I would say it is probably my fourth or third favorite Von Trier work though. I just find his hate yet obsession with women fascinating. It is like if Freud made movies.

good to know... I don't like the film 'introductions' where they start talking about the content of the film. That is NOT an introduction!!

I've kind of thought about creating a thread that would contain a list of spoiler free or NOT spoiler free bonus content.

The Ingmar Bergman intros on Summer With Monika and Smiles of a Summer Night are awesome. They are about 3 - 5 minutes long and he just gives you the slightest flavor of the film to come and they end with him giving the cue to the projectionist to run the film. Loved those intros! I haven't seen it yet, but it is probably safe to assume that Summer Interlude has the same spoiler free intro.

Sadly there's no introduction on Summer Interlude. Which is a huge shame because it's one of my favourite Bergmans.

Just watched Blue is the Warmest Color. What an incredible movie. So deeply moving and touching. Incredibly believable performances from both Adèle Exarchopoulos and Léa Seydoux. Talk about oscar snub! The sex scenes weren't controversial at all imo. They were definitely needed. So what is with that talk about a possible longer director's cut I am hearing lately? Will there be one?

I had a chance to see Lacombe, Lucien on Saturday night. As promised... I am reporting back.

The film is quiet, confidently paced, and atmospheric. If you are interested in stories about the German occupation of France during World War II, then it comes highly recommended. I don't like to give away much of anything about the plot. I will say, however, that it is kind of a haunting film. I enjoyed every leisurely paced minute of it and felt inclined to read as much as I could about it afterwards. (Surprisingly,) there is some good discussion on the imdb message boards for this film.

Upon reflection, I'd say that it is a very good maybe a great film.

I've now seen all 3 films in the Criterion Malle set; they are all wonderful films. They should have upgraded the entire set! After Melville, Malle is my 2nd favorite Criterion discovery and still I've only seen 4 films with some highly regarded ones remaining.

I can understand the ending, but yeah it was a bit ... yeah ok...

I men compare it to the endings of his other films, Dogville, Manderlay, Antichrist, Melancholia, etc etc etc they all have huge impact on you and are so strong I mean... Dancer makes you feel sick and so sad.

Not sure how I would have ended Nymph tbh, but yeah could have been stronger.

I wasn't keen on the heavy music, I appreciate why he used it, but found the classical scores more powerful - what he used was great but I loved how Melancholia and Antichrist stuck with one piece - even if he used ONLY classical pieces in Nymph it would have been better - I personally would have stuck with Bachs piece.

But I don't hate it, absolutely loved the digressions, only wish there was more, or they went in more detail (maybe they do in uncut version)

I was interested in this too, found this article:

Not sure if there is any more updated information, but it seems it should be around 40 minutes more, and they talk about a possible sequel.

Well, I look at it in a whole other facet.

To me, its not about spoilers, its about LEARNING and APPRECIATING the director. I think now, after having seen this documentary about Cassavetes, I can go in and watch the rest of his films in this box set having understood the director's vision and ideas more. Sometimes there is a major benefit about doing research and reading/learning about a piece of artwork (or film) before actually viewing it. Sure, maybe some plot points will be given away, but the great thing about Cassavetes, apparently, is that plot isn't the point! His films aren't about plot but about emotion and feeling. This is why I think it was a good idea to watch this extremely long (3 1/2 hour) documentary on John Cassavetes so I could then have a basic understanding of the man and subsequently go in now and watch his films knowing a bit more about them and ultimately appreciating/understanding them more.

Does this make any sense?

40 minutes. Damn that's a lot. Afterall the film is already 3 hours long. Maybe Criterion will release it? I mean they'll release a proper special edition some time later. Maybe they'll include this DC?

I thought the ending was pretty brutal. That half circle walk then BAM...
The only thing I didn't like after 1 viewing was the painfully obvious Antichrist tie in. I got it visually right away but then when he used the same music it took me right out of the film. So out of place in my opinion. Also Shias accent was awful
