Funny thing is that there was freezing and skipping in certain areas during the 2nd half of the movie and when I put it in the other player, there were different areas that had skipping and freezing which were fine before and the areas that were faulty in the ps4 were fine in the other player. It sounds like they are going to take care of the issue but it helps that I had the email confirmation from my feb. order. I'm just worried about the criterions i bought from barnes and nobles that i haven't watched yet. I'm hoping those discs are fine.
I'd venture a guess and say that the slots might have left some grunge on your disc. Did you try to clean it first (the playing side)? (And/or looked really closely at the playing side for any scratches or rough spots that might be causing the playback issues?) Doesn't take much for a blu-ray to become finicky when it has some dirt or dust on its playing side (or maybe a scratch).

Hi,

Can someone confirm the details of the packaging of 8 1/2 for me. I just purchased a copy on ebay that listed it as "one disc only, no special features" but has the case and booklet. It's listed here as one disc which would mean all the features are on the same disc. Can someone confirm or refute this?

Thanks in advance,

Yes, it is one Blu-ray Disc. Enjoy the film, it is one of the best films in the collection, that is my unbiased opinion.

It does have a lot of special features. Maybe because they're not on a separate disc it's not described as such. Regardless, like Fellini912 says, enjoy.

Juliet is such a colorful film and has one of Rota's most infectious scores. Every time I watch the film I'm humming or whistling parts of it for days.

Another Fellini/Masina film I really enjoy is Ginger and Fred. It doesn't get mentioned much but it's a real joy to watch with it's two stars (Masina/Mastroianni) really shining in a bittersweet story.

Has anyone ever seen any actual sales numbers for a specific title issued by Criterion? I was thinking about this the other day while looking at Twilight Time's offerings. They act as though they are in the same 'boutique' category as Criterion when it comes to pricing, and they say they limit their catalog issues to a run of 3000. Looking at their site, some of the better known titles are sold out, but many linger for an long time. Is 3000 copies for a film an average number? How do you suppose a company survives on a business model like that?

For Twilight Time they basically have 1 main vendor and the price is high, you don't see sales on those as far as I can recall. Not sure what the CC volumes are but the "in collections" start per title gives you a starting point for sales. It should be a lot higher for each title since the count only includes registered users who track their collections on their site.

Actually, Screen Archives recently had a sale (the week before last.) It was called a "Special Event" for their third birthday. I was able to pick up Sexy Beast for $19.95 + $4.35 for shipping. However, they did not have all of their items for sale.

Yes, SAE had a sale, however unless I'm mistaken, no TT items were included.

I watched The Game the other night and it definitely became my favorite Fincher film from the 90s. It's also my favorite movie with Michael Douglas. Is it just me or is it basically a non Christmas version of The Christmas Carol?

David Fincher is just...so...good.

The Game is fantastic! It's just a great old school hitchcockian thriller, full of surprises and beautiful cinematography. It's not my favorite Fincher film, but it comes mighty close.

Finally watched Playtime (admittedly on the UK release rather than CC) and yeah, pretty incredible, I've now seen his first four films. I'm not the biggest Tati fan in the world and can't put him on the same level as Chaplin, Keaton and Lewis but this film was extremely impressive.
