It actually was really great.

I was in ninth grade when we saw Captain EO at Epcot Center, and I was at the age where my friends and I had become weary of Michael Jackson's popularity and had jumped aboard the backlash bandwagon. A couple of minutes into the movie, though, I was reminded of all of the great things about Michael Jackson that had made me a big fan of Thriller a few years earlier.

These days, I'm inclined to say that anybody my age who was not a fan of Thriller during the early 1980s is lying. That album was really something else. I still have the cassette tape somewhere, and I'm a proud owner of the 25th Anniversary Edition CD, yes I am.

I would totally buy a 3D Blu-ray of the Disney theme park 3D shows, especially Captain EO. I actually have it on DVD (2D, obviously) from a decent copy of the broadcast on MTV from the early 90s.

Remember Magic Journeys? I have a vivid memory of that kid blowing the dandelion and all the seeds flying into the audience.

I'm now wanting to see the movie again full-tilt, after posting about it. Francis Ford Coppola directing, George Lucas producing, and, of course, Michael Jackson. It was a cool collaboration.

I'll always remember seeing the video for "Thriller" the night that it was released. That prologue is the best, and the video should only be seen in its full-length incarnation.

I still think that it's incredibly cool that Vincent Price found a way to reinvent his appeal to younger generations by participating on that song.
