Yes, this was not something I saw coming in the least...

If you're interested in finding out more about the character, my advice would be to read all of the Ripley novels....
I have seen all three film adaptations, but have read none of the books. I actually liked Ripley's Game when I saw it a few years ago, however, maybe if I read the novels beforehand that wouldn't be the case?

Roger Ebert on The Vanishing:

The movie advances in a tantalizing fashion, supplying information obliquely, suggesting as much as it tells, and everything leads up to a climax that is as horrifying as it is probably inevitable.

Who knows? Maybe Haneke's Code Unknown or The Piano Teacher will receive the Criterion blu-ray treatment.

Or a boxset! haha

I'd be happy with anything though, his films are incredible, and so emotional.

kind of a fun article for movie lovers... anyone frequent any of these theaters? slightly disappointed that the Music Box Theater in Chicago and the Virginia Theater in Champaign, IL did not get a mention.

I've been to the Plaza once to see A Clockwork Orange. It's a nice theater, but I'm surprised it made the list. The Virginia Theater definitely deserved a placement. That's the greatest theater I've ever been to.

Default Ripley films

There are two other Ripley film worth checking out:

(1) René Clément's Purple Noon, with Alain Delon as Ripley. Available on Blu-ray from...wait for it...Criterion.

(2) Wim Wender's The American Friend, with Dennis Hopper(!) as Ripley. Not available on Blu-ray that I know of, but came out on DVD from Anchor Bay about 10 years back.

RE: Caché - It's probably the closest thing to the horrors and magic that Hitchcock could pull off in the 40s, 50s, and 60s. PHENOMENAL film.

I'd recommend importing the Region Free UK Blu-ray for those curious.

I'm curious about seeing a film in a 2015 Toyota Camry.

Plaza Theatre here in Atlanta is the only one that I've been to. Watching Dr. No and From Russia with Love on back-to-back nights there last summer was an experience that I'll treasure forever.

I've seen several other movies at Plaza, but I do not make it down there as often as I should.

Now, I'm not normally a fan of going to movies for a first date, but the first row of seats at Electric Cinema in London on the above link...yeah, that would be a fun movie date experience. (Yes, this sentence is tongue-in-cheek. Sort of.)

I was going through the slideshow of movie theaters and there was an ad for the new Camry. Must have had different ads for everyone.
