I will be purchasing:

Ali:Fear Eats the Soul
Eraserhead
and
Macbeth

I would have purchased The Innocents had I not purchased the German import last year. In fact, I might sell it and buy the Criterion. I have not heard of Sundays and Cybele, but it sounds intriguing.

on the Criterion page it says "more!" so they're going to be adding more extras to the release. It might be included. We'll have to wait and see.

Yes, although Macbeth was announced years ago for Laserdisc but it never came out.

All of the films this month sound great. The only that I've seen thus far is Eraserhead and I'm especially looking forward to The Innocents.

Now that Eraserhead has been announced, I imagine the new thing will be "Mulholland Dr.". I wonder if Criterion will release a set with Inland Empire and Lost Highway, as well. Anyway, enough about that. Let's enjoy the announcements.

There's a 1979 South Bank Show episode on the Tess BD from the time he was promoting the film. It includes clips from a number of films of his or that were influences on him: Tess, Knife in the Water, Cul de Sac, Olivier's Hamlet, his Macbeth.

However when it gets to Chinatown, the clip that was included in the episode has been crudely edited out and replaced with a modern shot of a production still from the scene - there's a jump and they refer to the clip we didn't see. However it means they did have the rights to include the clips of Macbeth, along with the other four films, which are already in their catalog

Hopefully we'll see Macbeth from them soon

Inland Empire had so much hate but I love it, it's one of my fave Lynches, and could include the rabbits short films? :-)

One can hope. The German set isn't bad, but could be improved on. And we know Universal doesn't care at all about Lost Highway… it only took 11 years to get a DVD release after October films got folded into Universal.

I don't see why they wouldn't include it should it in fact be released.

Yes, I own the German set and it is quite nice.

I wish English subtitles were included, but oh well.

Yeah, that's why I can't watch it. I have a fear all the new KINO classics won't have subs, either, but that's a complaint for a different thread.

I just want to point out that the cover for "The Innocents" is on-par with "Persona" as the best Criterion cover. Look at that beauty!

Wow. I'm thrilled with the selections, but my bank account is most definitely NOT going to be!

I'm on for all of them. "Sunday and Cybele" will be a blind buy, but I've read about it for years and have wanted to see it. It's supposed to be pretty intense.

And man, I can't wait to see "The Innocents" and what Criterion do with it. Such a great film.

I guess Mulholland Drive will be the next big request... and Im sure the Le Samurai fans are also waiting still

Id love a set with MD and Lost Highway. I could do without Inland Empire though bleck.. but if its in a set with the other two Id get it

Since Lynch and Criterion mended their bridges, I can actually see it happening, combined with the fact that Criterion regularly licenses from Universal. Makes about as good of sense as any, and the Criterion brand fits with niche titles like his. Bring it on!
