Also glad they are dropping the duel format release.

But nice announcement, though. Consider all M*nn*qu*n jokes officially blown out of the water.

I purchased the German set last year for $22.83 and it has been one of the best buys I have ever made. As I'm sure you know, Criterion does not include subtitles for English-language films anyway.

Not exactly underwhelmed but not excited either.

I would be thrilled by The Innocents but the BFI release is already really good.

I love Polanski but Macbeth doesn't really grab me. At least not yet.

A lot of people are really excited about Eraserhead but I'm just not one of them.

I've never heard of Sundays and Cybele but it sounds pretty interesting.

And that leave Ali which so far is the only real definite buy from this month.

It's too good a lineup to shrug off with a meh but yeah, they don't really do a lot for me personally.

At least not yet anyway.

The Innocents looks very interesting (especially since I love The Turn of the Screw), but the others don't interest me at the moment.

All the titles have my interest in some way. Eraserhead has been mentioned on here ad nauseam so I'll have to check it out. It just looks like a weird, freaky little film, but it's Lynch so that's expected. I've been seeing more and more of Polanski and he has my attention as a director, I'm enjoying discovering more and more of his films, so Macbeth will be one to consider. Patricia Gozzi's name jumped out at me for Sundays and Cybele as I purchased Rapture from Screen Archives back when they had their $10 off sale on Twilight Time titles. The Innocents I've heard frequently mentioned with The Haunting, both movies I want to check out, classic horror is awesome, especially when it is so critically acclaimed. The Uninvited is another title in the collection I've been meaning to watch. Finally, I have seen All That Heaven Allows, and have never seen a Fassbinder movie so seeing his "retelling" (?) should be educational. All in all, it seems like 5 blind buys. Fck.

D'oh< Yea... You're right. My bad.

Even so, I can't find a Thread that would be 100% devoted to Criterion Sales in General? I was hoping for a Thread that would speculate as to when they're going to occur etc..

Lol, not your bad. People speculate and ask after the sale dates are well established in this thread. I hear where you're coming from and don't disagree, just telling you how it generally shakes out. I wouldn't be at all opposed to a stickied thread in the deals subforum, but peaps like to start threads.

I wonder when we'll be getting the deluxe edition of Blue is the Warmest Color then. Maybe that'll be November? Getting impatient. Might just buy that at the B&N 50% off sale.

I'm still holding out for In a Lonely Place.

Been reading about Polanski's Macbeth forever, but never seen it. A lock for blind buy...though I may have to wait for the later sale...

I'm very curious as to checking out Macbeth as well. That cover art makes it more enticing to blind buy it. I was really hoping MD would come out before Eraser head, but hey, all in good time.

Wow, David Lynch is finally in the Criterion Collection! I just saw the new September announcements and I literally almost fell of my chair when I saw Eraserhead listed. We all knew this was coming but actually seeing it on my computer screen with David Lynch written on a Criterion movie is simply a revelation. Something tells me that Mulholland Dr. will be next. The real highlight of the Eraserhead release is of course the collection of short films though by far. Anyway, I'm in for that movie and the Polanski film (Macbeth). Also am really glad to see the Fassbinder upgrade too. Superb and exciting announcements!

Oh! Excuse me, I didn't realize. When exactly did Criterion begin putting English sub-titles for English-language films?
