Possibly The Walls of Jericho (1948), or Rough Night in Jericho (1967)?

Rough Night seems to fit all the clues, but it looks like just an average Western. And not even a jar of Monte Hellman at that.

Wow, 3 pages of comments related to blind buys, great stuff Always interesting to see how people actually arrive at the checkout with the film in their hand (or shopping cart). Great to see some interaction

As a few others have said, I research a film, not to the extent of knowing every details but a general guide to what the film is about. I'm not so much a Director / Actor fan or hater so that does not influence me. After nearly 50 Criterions purchased I have sold only 1, Safety Last with 2 others, The Bank Dick and The Ruling Class up for sale. Not a bad success rate.

I am going out on a limb here on that clue. I think it might be The Wall, as I think David Gilmour is a knight. My reasoning is that it is being shown here in Chicago at The Music Box, with I think a new print. This could be way off, but that's what makes it fun...

Red Desert
Purple Noon and Red Desert are both tremendous Criterion titles. Purple Noon was actually one of my first Blu-ray purchases, and the Mediterranean scenery is unbelievably beautiful. Red Desert benefits from Antonioni's masterful use of color, and I think that it is one of the most underrated films in the Collection.

A quick reminder for the John Frankenheimer fans in the thread...

The Twilight Time Blu-ray of Frankenheimer's The Train is disappearing fast, so you've better grab a copy while you can.

I watched The Train a couple nights ago, and I was blown away. This World War II film has the perfect balance of physical action and somber gravitas. Burt Lancaster, Paul Scofield, and Jeanne Moreau (yeah, Jeanne Moreau, ya'll!) are all excellent in their roles.

This one sits well on the shelf next to Seconds.

Au Revoir Les Enfants Absolute masterpiece. Beautiful yet heartbreaking

Everlasting Moments Purchased but yet to watch, looks to be another beautifuly film with a tough subject

Le Havre I have seen this though I don't remember much I scored it 7/10 so I thought it was Good

Orpheus & Purple Noon Seen neither of these two films

Umberto D A film that just brings you to your knees, I would walk to the nearest store (I live in Canada) if this is ever upgraded to Blu-Ray

Red Desert I watched a cut of this film when I still lived in the UK, I will admit, I didn't quite understand it. Maybe now that I am a little more film savvy I will give it another shot one day
