Since Criterion is releasing, playtime, which was previously OOP what are the odds of them gaining the rights to some more OOP titles. I have been looking at some on eBay but would hate to pay premium proces if they will be re-releasing them.

Another hint for Monte Hellman's Westerns: Carole Eastman, screenwriter for The Shooting.

I wonder if they might get limited rights back. The new Playtime will likely only be available in the Tati box set, not by itself. As such, perhaps Criterion could release a Carol Reed box set (The Third Man, Odd Man Out, The Fallen Idol, Night Train to Munich) and a Nicolas Roeg box set (Bad Timing, The Man Who Fell to Earth, Insignificance, Walkabout)? Odd Man Out was put on iTunes in HD recently...

A Carol Reed set would be fantastic.

Shampoo would be a nice announcement. TT was not able to obtain it so I have to think it may be a Criterion title at some point. They released it on Laserdisc back in the 90's.

Most of the talent involved are still alive to participate. Warren Beatty, Goldie Hawn, Lee Grant, Julie Christie, Tony Bill, Carrie Fisher, Robert Towne. Jack Warden is the only one who was passed away.

Since I've been on a 1970s/1980s horror kick lately, I'll humbly request The Brood this time around.

Also...

Le Samourai
In a Lonely Place
Brute Force/Night and the City/Thieves' Highway/The Naked City
The Killers (1946 & 1964)
Night of the Demon/Curse of the Demon
L'Avventura
Elevator to the Gallows
Carnival of Souls
Classe Tous Risques
Stray Dog
Pickup on South Street

And, sadly, Hal Ashby has also passed away; However, Robert Towne is still around and I would love to hear him do the commentary track.

Is there some obscure holiday today? If not, they'll be today.

Hopefully.

Interviews with everyone would be a great bonus feature. I love Goldie Hawn and would love to see more interviews regarding her film work. Esp in the 70's and 80's.

It would be nice to get some nice BLU editions form Warner Bros for Private Benjamin, Protocol, and even Swing Shift - even with the stormy work relationship she and Demme had while making the film. I read her autobiography and she spoke well of the film and the circumstances on making it. I think it would be cool if they came together and did some interviews and maybe Demme could also include his version of the film which I think according to IMDB / WIki forgot where I read it but I think the running times are the same. I still have my VHS and Laserdisc of Swing Shift because in the "full frame" version Ed Harris goes commando under his towel at the start of the film.

Huge Goldie fan here.... but Shampoo has so many great characters and some great dialogue Hal Ashby you can't go wrong.

I know for sure it's a holiday in Italy and Greece.
(I will be watching Il Sorpasso in a while, whose plot is on the day of the 15th of August holiday )
Maybe other European countries too.
But that doesn't affect USA.

(would like to order pizza too to watch, but unfortuantely the pizzeria is closed for holidays )

The good news is that we may see the announcements earlier today.

Phantom pages are being added, such as this one for Carole Eastmond, star of Monte Hellman's The Shooter, which we already knew was coming.

did some light research.. I didn't believe it, but people are right: November is usually quite a power house line-up.

Novembers past brought us:

Fanny & Alexander
City Lights
3 Colors
Tokyo Story
Zaitochi
12 Angry Men

...to name a few.
