Certainly worth even 66 or 70 if you can't wait.
For the entire box, but he, like me, only cares about Easy Rider. That's why I gave him links to those that have opened the box, and are selling the movies separately.

Wow, I just watched 205 or 206 minutes straight of Louis Malle's Phantom India this morning. It's 4 in the morning and I don't know how I'm still awake. It's a 6 hour French TV Series and I only have another 2 and a half hours to go. Still cannot believe I watched the first 4 episodes (51 min. each) straight! Sometimes a person can just get sucked in. There is some phenomenal material in here... some of the time I do lose interest but for footage shot in the late 1960s, this is some extraordinary documentary material.

I can't imagine splitting up the set; it's a really nice release, and are people break my making that much of an economic gain? To each his own...

My personal favorite of the set is The King of Marvin Gardens, closely followed by The Last Picture Show. Five Easy Pieces is up there too. I thought that Easy Rider was a little overrated.

I agree SlickDamian - so far I've only watched Easy Rider and The Last Picture Show, but whilst I can see Easy Rider was/is an important film, The Last Picture Show is so much better all round. I look forward to watching Five Easy Pieces and The King of Marvin Gardens now that you've reminded me!

I received replacement case/artwork for Bottle Rocket today - anyone else get annoyed that the spin doesn't align with the artwork next to it? Its ever so slightly off like the designer put the spin artwork slightly to high :/

Uh 5 items came, 3 of them have cracked plastic cases lol >.<

Probably haha! Its weird as majority of my digipaks come perfect condition with NO damage at all, yet the plastic cases which you;d think would be less likely to get any damage seem to be the one getting the damage lol

I hate having to send items back for refund or replacement as it delays everything, luckily the sellers agree'd to partial refunds to cover cost of replacement cases

Means I got Red Desert for £5 now ($8), so not complaining haha

Hey everyone. I'm thinking of finally getting a region free Blu Ray player. My question is, what releases are must haves that are not region free or region A? I don't necessarily mean the same film with a better transfer. I'm more interested in movies and box sets that are not available in the US. For instance, the Alain Robbe-Grillet: Six Films box set is what is finally prompting me to finally go region free.

There are three hours of Billy Wilder interviews on The Long Weekemd that are almost worth the import price alone.

If you're at all interested in that kind of thing, most of the have steel counterparts and pretty darn nice ones.

At first I was guessing The Lion in Winter, but The Thin Blue Line makes sense. I'll have to check it out.

Lifeboat has an Australian region-free release that's pretty affordable.

If you like Japanese films, there are the Artificial Eye and Masters of Cinema Mizoguchi box sets (although the MOC set can be expensive and difficult to locate now), as well the BFI Ozus. For newer Asian films, Third Window has a lot of UK blus you'll now be able to play.

Everything from Masters of Cinema is worth looking at, and the prices are pretty reasonable when compared to Criterion, even when importing (Eureka's store has great prices and free worldwide shipping).

The Robbe-Grillet set is currently about $56 shipped to the US from Base.com if you're looking for a good place to order from. Aside from my orders from Eureka's direct website, most of my UK imports get ordered from Base.

Happy importing!

what's happenin' tripleJ? thinking the same thing - to pull the trigger on a region free player. my tastes might be different, but these were the ones I was looking at:

[Show spoiler]

..the aforementioned Lifeboat, there's another Douglas Sirk in Moc Tarnished Angels, and Truffaut's Antoine Doinel films are available, too.

Wow, that's a really bizarre cover for Make Way For Tomorrow. Makes it look like a musical.
[Show spoiler]It's not.

Default Question for the experts

Hi everyone,

I hope this is the right place to ask this question, but I have finally broken and am leaning towards getting the Third Man Criterion Blu Ray. I know I will be paying plenty for it and wanted to see if people that are much more informed on the Criterion Collection thought it was worth it?

I like mine. Be patient when shopping. I saw one go on ebay for $70 shipped just this week. It doesn't have to be *super* expensive if you're willing to wait for the right deal.
