So far, from what I've watched, here is the most accessible Bergman to the least accessible:

[Show spoiler]1. Smiles of a Summer Night
2. Fanny and Alexander
3. Through a Glass Darkly
4. Autumn Sonata
5. Winter Light
6. The Seventh Seal
7. Wild Strawberries
8. Persona
9. The Silence

The most notable transition in accessibility happened when I watched the faith trilogy, since it went from a relatively straight-forward, but serious take on mental illness (Through a Glass Darkly) to one of the most perplexing films I've seen (The Silence).

I still own, but have yet to watch: Summer with Monika, Summer Interlude, Scenes from a Marriage, and The Magician. I also plan on seeking out Cries and Whispers, The Virgin Spring, Hour of the Wolf, and Shame.
My ranking is something along the following (I consider all to be a 4/5 and higher).

01. Fanny and Alexander (1982)
02. Persona (1966)
03. The Silence (1963)
04. Wild Strawberries (1957)
05. The Virgin Spring (1960)
06. Smiles of a Summer Night (1955)
07. Through a Glass Darkly (1961)
08. Summer Interlude (1951)
09. The Seventh Seal (1957)
10. Winter Light (1963)
11. Autumn Sonata (1978)
12. The Magician (1958)
13. Summer with Monika (1953)

The Purple Rose of Cairo is great and according to Twilight Time, will be released next year.

The Woody Allen films that I have not seen are the following: What's Up, Tiger Lily? (1966), Take the Money and Run (1969), Bananas (1971), Men of Crisis: The Harvey Wallinger Story (1971), Love and Death (1975), Interiors (1978), Stardust Memories (1980), A Midsummer Night's Sex Comedy (1982), September (1987), New York Stories (1989), Alice (1990), Shadows and Fog (1991), Husbands and Wives (1992), Manhattan Murder Mystery (1993), Bullets Over Broadway (1994), Don't Drink the Water (1994), Mighty Aphrodite (1995), Everyone Says I Love You (1996), Deconstructing Harry (1997), Celebrity (1998), Sweet and Lowdown (1999), The Curse of the Jade Scorpion (2001), Hollywood Ending (2002), and Anything Else (2003).

Just began my Hulu Plus membership and watched Ozu's Late Spring, which I enjoyed, but not as much as Tokyo Story. I was on the fence about Hulu Plus, but with all of the Criterion films available, I just couldn't say no.

Good decision.

I don't think Late Spring has the same effect on me as Tokyo Story, but I still think it was quite a good movie.

I'm surprised people are dropping their prices but I'm holding onto my copy since the UK version has a different color timing then the previous BLUs. Waiting to see what Criterion's new blu will look like first.

PRO-B's UK Blu review for those who are unware.

Agreed. Part of it is that there is no B&N where I live plus she's a member with that extra 10% off when they have sales.

I now have a bunch of stuff to catch up on. I just re-watched Ivan's Childhood and saw Insomnia for the first time.

I really enjoy Late Spring. I love the bicycle ride sequence which features one of the few times Ozu strays from his normal camera height and angle shot that are synonymous with his films.

This is a heads up that the TCM shop appears to be having a sale on some Criterion blu's right now. Prices on several titles MSRP $39.99 now $18.99, including:

Tess
IL Sorpasso
The Great Beauty
Thin Red Line
All That Heaven Allows
Ace in The Hole

and about a dozen more. Also, Red River and On The Waterfront, MSRP $49.99 are now $23.99.

Finally, free shipping on orders over $59 with code VIPSHIP.
Thanks, there are a couple titles as low as 14.99, but nothing for me at the moment. Got my Criterion fix for now when I purchased The Big Chill at Costco.

Whoa, that's pretty cool.

I've already got The Man Who Fell to Earth but that stack of Mr Akadin books is verrrrrrrrrrry interesting.

I would love to see a BD release of the multi-cut set.

Whoa - Mr. Arkadin and a re-release of TMWFTE!?

Are the booklet stacks of 3 Films by Roberto Rossellini, Amarcord, and Repo Man for a re-release in a plastic case or just for more standard copies?
