Welles wasn't bad, but he couldn't save the film. I'm not upset about the film being in the collection, as I'm glad some people got value out of it. However, it's, at least for me, the white elephant in the fabulous BBS set. I try and try, but I cannot watch it without getting bored and angry.
I think that was the point though, and why Criterion put the two films on one disc. They were included as time capsules or curiosities more than anything, to flesh out the set. The BBS set is one of the best things that Criterion has released in my opinion.

Agree! I initially bought the set for The Monkees, Five Easy Pieces, and King of Marvin Gardens. Mainly the Monkees. Easy Rider and The Last Picture Show are enjoyable, but I don't absolutely love them. A safe place is the only one I outright hate. The set is totally worth having.

In no particular order:

Paris, Texas
Naked
Yi Yi
Wings of Desire
Three Colors: Red

Edit: I forgot that the boxsets aren't sorted on CC website, so changed to Dazed and Confused for Red.

That was harder than I thought (and I limited it to blu):

1. In The Mood For Love
2. Breaking The Waves
3. The Great Beauty
4. Secret Sunshine
5. Rushmore

It was difficult not to include Fanny and Alexander or The Double Life Of Veronique.

I almost put Withnail and I, but it's OOP entirely.

I enjoy Fanny and Alexander, but it's not one of my top Bergmans

It's tough to leave out The Thin Red Line, Fanny and Alexander, Videodrome, Ran, The Three Colors Trilogy, Dazed and Confused, In the Mood for Love, and Revanche, though.
