I really think this is one of the best answers since the rose seems have some movement from those marks around it like it is ramblin'

I think the Nausicaa reference is really crazy since it does look spot on but seems odd. who knows maybe Disney is finally losing their US rights to the films they certainly started issueing relesses of remaining titles since this past fall and again in a few months when before they were releasing them at the slowest pace possible. Again I think it is odd I so.

Inside L Davis is just bizarre also mostly because Cohen brothers films aren't known for jam packed special features it really does seem unnecessary unless there is some sort of bonus feature that would make the release worthwhile.

I like the idea that the one clue could be One Eyed Jacks

Still mystified by that one clue of either fire or something near the bottom of drawing. I was hoping it was more of a clue for something like Blow Up but it isn't as definite.

I doubt the soldiers are Barry Lyndon WB has loaned out a few titles but I don't see them letting go of any Kubrick WB are king of the re-relesse when it isn't even worthwhile.

I did wish the clock was After Hours but again Geffen / WB film but the film was supposed to be ready for BLU seems like a couple years ago the wait it killing me.

4 vases = 4 seasons? Without a doubt the man/cart is for the Fassbinder.

The New World and The Fisher King are probably 100% true for 2015 in the Criterion Collection. I'll bet money on that.

Although i wouldn't understand a selection of the latter, since there is an ultimate edition of it.

And any comment on my suggestion (La Vie En Rose)?
I don't know how the thing with rights and stuff goes..
The Rose wouldn't be out of the question, nor I think would be La vie en Rose.

There's just no way in hell it could be Citizen Kane. Aside from my not believing for a second that Warner would license it to Criterion, a rose would be far too obscure a clue. A more likely clue would be a sled, or even a snowglobe.

In terms of the Rose motif... how about The Name of the Rose? Maybe Warner Bros. wants to give it the Criterion treatment.

Did Criterion make a deal with Disney? For real?
They've always had a deal with Disney. After all, their DVDs of (among others) Armageddon and Chasing Amy are still in print. I would not, however, expect Disney to license any of their high-profile titles. And given that Disney doesn't own Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind outright, I'm not sure if their contract with Studio Ghibli would allow them to sub-license it out to someone else.

Chasing Amy is no longer controlled by Disney and if those two titles are showing as "in print" anyway it's because there is probably a mountain of unsold stock.

Even assuming that the ship is a clue for Peter Pan, that doesn't necessarily mean it would be the Disney animated film. It could be P.J. Hogan's film Peter Pan or (dear God...please...no) the Spielberg film Hook. I'd even put forth the upcoming film Pan, except that Warner owns that one.

Hook? I'd be down for that. It's current Blu-ray has no extra features at all. The laserdisc had some. They could include the old supplements and maybe some new ones. It would finally get Spielberg into the Criterion Collection.

I know some hate the film but for me... it is one of my favorites.

I highly doubt that the female with her back turned is referencing 'Nausicaä'...Disney has an iron grip on anything they put out. I'm in agreement with the person (forgot who it was) that brought up the possibility of that being a reference to 'Barbarella'. For one, the hair is much longer than that of Nausicaä (Fonda's hair is longer), the drawing depicts the woman wearing high heels, which is more in line with Barbarella as well. That and it does kinda look like it could be a "B" on her back.

Also, 'The Fisher King' is an absolute...Terry Gilliam has already admitted as much in an interview/article with The Hollywood Reporter which ran shortly after Robin Williams' death. Apparently they contacted him while he was recording the commentary track for 'The Fisher King' and he said it was for Criterion.

And perhaps some supplements associated with Ghibli.

Also, the drawing that reminded some people of Ponyo is because of the watery shaped face in the ocean that can be seen in the film. It looks pretty similar. As to Ponyo, the film had a 8 hour or so making-of in Japan that has never been subtitled and it also wasn't released in the US with lossless Japanese. So there would certainly be plenty of material for a Criterion edition if they went down this route.
there's a commentary track on Nausicaa on both the Japanese and UK blu's - maybe we'll (hear) see a release stateside.

Perhaps the missing road could refer to Lost Highway.

When Criterion loses the rights to a film, they lose the rights to distribute it as well, unsold copies or no. If Amazon or other vendor still has unsold copies, they can continue to sell them, but Criterion can't sell them on their website shop. The fact that they are still selling titles they've licensed from Disney indicates that Disney is still allowing them to sell them.

Spielberg has already been in the collection. Close Encounters of the Third Kind was released by Criterion on laserdisc.

Maybe the bridge/road thing is Road to Nowhere? Monte Hellman's been featured a lot lately in the collection (esp. with that recent release of his 2 westerns). I don't think it qualifies as a good movie, the new one he made a few years ago, but then again, I didn't even see it yet.
