I understand the frustration. And to be honest, I often feel that same frustration as well, because there are certainly many films that I would rather see Criterion release than what they're announcing.

However, that's not the same as thinking that what Criterion is announcing is piffle. They're releasing some great films, even if they aren't films that are on the top of my list. For example, as I had said here when they made their May releases announcement, and people complained that they weren't releasing Costa-Gavras' Z but were releasing two other films of his, as much as I love Z and would like Criterion to release it on Blu-ray, I was more excited at the prospect of watching two other films of his that I hadn't seen before.

What I really find frustrating is that a lot of people here are too focused on what Criterion isn't releasing that they're not noticing what good stuff Criterion is releasing. I see too many comments (more in the replies to the announcements on the news page than in this thread, to be fair) of the "never heard of this or that film" variety, said as a dismissal of the films being announced. If instead they said, "Hunh...I've never heard of these films, but since Criterion is releasing them, maybe they're worth taking a look at," they could well find themselves seeing some terrific films that they would otherwise never have known about.

All of that documentary footage within Night Will Fall really makes it an important time capsule and valuable record, unbelievable and disturbing as it is. I would also like to know if it will ever see a Blu-ray release, I did see an article mention that the full-length German Concentration Camps Factual Survey would be screened in theaters this year and could potentially become available to the public through home video releases.

That goes for another recent HBO Documentary Film, Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief, and an incredible film that premiered on the network, Citizenfour. Truly fantastic films that make my subscription worth it.

Good news, too bad i have the Arrow release , will need to have a whole lot of new extras to consider a double dip.

The De Palma that screams for a quality release with extras in my opinion is Carrie.

I love these kinds of postings on Facebook, where this is actually more "real" than the monthly newsletter clues we see. We don't have to guess but we have proof from the interviewees themselves. So now we know 100% that there's a new Criterion blu-ray coming out from a classic Brian DePalma film. I'm glad Criterion doesn't have a non-disclosure/confidentiality policy on stuff like this.

On one hand, the extras on the MGM SE DVD are pretty great, but since MGM seems as if they'll never release anything better than the barebones 2008 disc, I agree.

This is quite surprising to me, though maybe half the reason they can create such amazing extras is through a lot of good will in the community too.

Tonight I watched Make Way for Tomorrow for the first time. This movie just killed me, I was almost overwhelmed by how emotional it was, but was so wrapped up in the story and fell in love with the characters. One of the finest Criterions I've seen in recent memory, and highly recommended!

Why is it bad that you have the Arrow release? It's a fantastic addition to a movie collection.

It really was!

I liked Dressed to kill I have the bluray. But I Wish CC would release Body Double. Can't watch it since the damn TT release is over priced.

Haha Yeah, i haven't even seen all the extras it has yet, but what i meant is that now that Criterion is releasing it, chances are it might have a complete set of different extras so i would be tempted to repurchase it , well at least the Arrow was relatively cheap.

have to disagree with you, Pedro. Rapture is a sublime masterpiece whose merits have, despite the gushing that has gone on about it, probably been understated, if anything.

Sundays and Cybele is... well... it's okay. I actually want to see it again now that I've seen Rapture, so a reevaluation can be in its future.

of course, all a matter of opinion, but I'm mildly surprised that you wouldn't prefer Rapture. The score was done by Georges Delerue who also did the beautiful score for Jules and Jim.

Once again, it looks like you and I are sharing an opinion. I liked Chungking Express. I didn’t quite connect with In The Mood For Love, although I am eager to watch it again. It is definitely an elegant film and some of the set design early in the film is ace. I started to watch Fallen Angels and while I saw stylistic similarities to the two I had already seen, I kinda felt like I had seen enough to where I no longer feel inclined to see the rest of his films. For those who are familiar with it, the ice cream scene early in the film is just plain stupid. Sorry.

wow! I'm on a roll here: this film is just bad, bad, bad... it plays like a student film by someone who got a hold of some camera equipment and od'd on Alfred Hitchcock films. keep it.

Criterion is releasing Dressed to Kill, eh?

I purchased the existing Blu-ray during the last FoxConnect sale, but have not had a chance to watch it yet.

So, I'd like to say to all of you in this thread...

You're welcome.
