Anyway...

yes, if cinematheque gets his 66 Blurays (no offence cinematheque, i'm just using it as an example), and I get none of my 4 ones(!) just because they happened to ship in 1-2 months, OF COURSE i can say it's unfair!!
I ordered at the same time with the others, and I expect to be treated like all the others!
It's not my fault that they made the error or not.

He may not come and whine about not getting orders filled, but I certainly will. I spend a lot of money with the different amazons, and I spent about an hour of my time at 2am when I would have normally gone to bed going through and picking out those discs and got my hopes up.

They are little plastic discs. They do not cost $25-35 to manufacture, probably less than a dollar.

They can honor their prices. They are a multi-billion dollar company, and the amount of orders that went through in the middle of the night is negligible from their standpoint.

take it to this thread.

I don't want to hear about it. I'm darn near certain that many here don't want to hear about it either. ...and I, myself, would be derailing this thread if I were to attempt to explain to you how a business is run. it is pretty apparent that you and filmmusic haven't the faintest idea.

If a business is ran by selective fulfillness of orders that happened at the same time, I would be happy to hear the explanation, and not use that "business' ever again!

I tried to explain to you in a half dozen posts that there would be nothing "selective" about fulfilling these orders.

..and now you've been asked politely and indirectly by shell and directly twice by me, to take this topic to another thread.

is there a mod around here? we need a traffic cop.

I see.
Well, I'll shut up then.
you (plural) can go on derailing the thread with non-Criterion related posts that I see all the time here (and haven't said a single word), but I will go with my Criterion-related complaints elsewhere.
Case closed.

If anyone is in the Austin area- the Austin Film Society just posted tickets for the Apu Trilogy restoration. Showing all three on July 5th, and also individually on Tuesdays.

Nice! Just got back from my local B&N and they weren't sure when it would begin. In fact, they couldn't even confirm if there would be one in July. The 40% off all BD/DVD was in full swing and I asked as frankly I couldn't remember if there was a 40% sale so close to the 50% Criterion last summer, and was concerned they may delay until November.

Yes, they always run the July criterion sale to coincide with my birthday, which is near the middle of the month. Aw, shucks! What's nice about it this year is that I'll be able to pick up some of the July titles I've been coveting, like the upgrades of The Killers and Hiroshima, Mon Amour.

In the meantime, I'm very happy for those of you who were able to take advantage of the Amazon.ca "sale", and hope that you all get the discs you ordered. Now I don't feel so bad about the bargain I got earlier this week on eBay: 10 Criterion blu-rays, plus 5 Criterion DVDs (including two OOP titles), and another bonus DVD for $115, shipping included.

I also found a first edition/first printing of Anne Rice's Interview With a Vampire in a mint dust jacket for $1.00 at a resale shop in Arkansas, so all in all, it's been a great week for me. I hope for you, too.

Thanks for the post... I completely forgot to check on the 40% off sale. I need to run by, but I think I just let 2 20% coupons expire.
