I found the supplements for Speedy, Macbeth, L'Avventura and It Happened One Night.

The distributor appears as: "Sony DADC UK Limited"

But the supplements are the same as the ones from Criterion.

Isn't Sony already Criterion's distributor?

Yeah, that makes sense now, but we still need to wait and see if those are going to be labeled as Criterion's with spine's and all, not sure how this works, but I guess there is still a chance they could be released as a different Sony lineup.

It'd be pretty silly to jump into yet another new format when physical media is dying a slow death as it is.

Hey, just asking. It would be really nice. Imagine the texture, and color.

No, they haven't. I suspect that they will hold off until they see how the format does.

90% of the stuff the release is sourced from 2K restorations anyway. So all that will still be an upscale. It took them years to jump into blu-ray fro DVD so I don't expect them to try out 4K until they see if it actually takes off, which I doubt it will for most catalog titles and especially foreign films.

I love the film so much that I hesitate to say that someone should read the book first. I think it would be best to go into the film totally blind. But I guess you could say the same about the book. I can't say as I haven't read it. Yet.

By the way, I think this might be the first monthly clue that I've guessed before I read about it on this site, so it has to be In a Lonely Plates.
I have read all of Dorothy's books. The two that the movies in question are based on far surpass the films. Having said that, the movies are in themselves also excellent. I would, as always, recommend reading the books and viewing the films. The order in which you experience her vision doesn't matter. Both are unique, and not to be missed.
Btw: I bought all of her books on ABE for less than $3 each, plus shipping: well worth the price.

One of her earliest novels The Fallen Sparrow was also turned into quite a good movie, with John Garfield and Maureen O'Hara. It's available on DVD-R from Warner Archive. It'd be nice to see WAC release it on Blu, but there are so many films that deserve that more, I doubt we'll ever see it.

Any chance Criterion could get The 7th Voyage of Sinbad from Sony? I think a CR edition would be spectacular.

For anyone interested, it looks like Criterion has the Zatoichi blu ray set back up for sale at $179. Pretty sure this was considered OOP for a minute.

You're missing the point. The people who die are the ones we actually are going to miss, so the answer is no, Justin Bieber is not releasing a new album

I understood the point. The correlation I chose to focus on was an artist's death so soon after a new release. I hoped we might get lucky, that the grim reaper would busy himself with somebody a little more expendable.

That's just cold, man.

Anyways, got my freakin' Blu-Rays FINALLY "organized" -- sorta. Only took me 3 episodes worth of SVU, so just about 3 hours. Man, I don't ever want to have to do something like that again.

At least all my Criterion Blus are organized, and all my Criterion DVDs are together. Found 5 that I had upgraded but never gotten around to donating to the library, so yet another thing I need to do.

And the worst part is that now, after the Criterions which are in there own little area, then the box sets, then the ... Keira Knightley and then the Scarlett Johansson films (SHUT UP!), everything else is in alphabetical order. And I HATE alphabetical order beyond the degree to which I hate anything else in the universe. But there was nothing else I could do.

Back in the day of fewer discs, I always had everything alphabetized by director's last name, then organized with each director's work chronologically. Oh well.

And what does best new spine refer to?
