Don't forget High and Low too.

I would love to see an upgrade to The Bad Sleep Well.

I want The Lower Depths (Plus every other Kurosawa film they have, but TLD is very underrated so I'm highlighting it)

Don't forget that they're releasing Dreams too, later this year, or next.

And I compare this to a lot of recent titles from major studios and I'm shocked at how badly the studios handle the transfer.
The Thin Red Line is probably in my top five for overall favorite Criterion releases. It simply is just about the best packaged and highest quality video/audio transfer in the library. This is one of the few Criterion releases I revisit once every few years.

It says it should be here by tomorrow for me but I live in Florida which isn't that far from New York (Which I believe is where Criterion ships their product).

Super excited for Dreams. Also hoping they surprise us one of these months with a Madadayo blu!

Am I correct that they have, in one form or another, released 26 of Kurosawa's 30 films (with Dreams set to be #27)?

I'm ashamed to say that it's still in my unwatched pile. I should fix that. Soon.

Restoring The New World

Quote:
With the Academy Awards coming up on Sunday, we’re celebrating the breathtaking work of cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki, who is nominated this year for his work on Alejandro González Iñárritu’s The Revenant. If he wins, Lubezki will be one of the only cinematographers to ever take home the Oscar three years in a row, following his wins for Gravity and Birdman. In honor of that, we’re giving you a rare glimpse through Lubezki’s talented eyes, an opportunity to see what the raw original negative of Terrence Malick’s 2005 film The New World, one of the cinematographer’s most beautifully lensed films, looks like before and after color correction. Lubezki and Malick have been working with Criterion for more than a year to create a new 4K restoration of Malick’s preferred 172-minute cut of the film, and these brief, never-before-seen examples show the incredible difference between the look of Lubezki’s meticulously exposed camera negative and that of the finished film.

That has to be their most obvious clue.

Somehow, The Thin Red Line and The New World are the two Malick films that I haven't seen. Well, there's also Knight of Cups, but I'm not holding my breath on that being any good.

I'd say their clue for Limelight, literally a green lightbulb, was their most obvious.

That one also came to mind, but directly quoting the film seems more obvious. Not that I'm complaining. Time to sell off my unopened copy.
