I'd love to see Altered States get a good blu release. I hate that US blu artwork, so all I have currently is the DVD.

My first order arrived today too. My 2nd order (Zatoichi:The Blind Swordsman box set), has yet to ship. I guess they're waiting for a shipment to arrive.

As long as we're dreaming on Ken Russell movies, "The Devils" would be an all-time "Holy shit" Criterion release for me. I have the BFI DVD, which is nice, and that film is mind-blowingly great. Warner is clearly scared to death to farm it out stateside though.

Are you referring to Malick’s preferred, 172-minute "extended cut"? If so, yes. The new years drawing had an planet with the word "NEW" on it.

"Lubezki and Malick have been working with Criterion for more than a year to create a new 4K restoration of Malick’s preferred 172-minute cut of the film, "

No idea

Funnily enough, I still haven't seen Dr. Strangelove in any format. It's one of the glaring holes in the breadth of my cinematic knowledge.
I will mail you my digibook to borrow. You NEED to see it, ASAP.

In regards to The New World, according to Wikipedia, in addition to the extended (director preferred) and theatrical cuts there was a 150-minute preview cut. I'm assuming that the Criterion will only include the theatrical and extended cuts or possibly just the extended.

I know people who saw that "preview cut" and consider it the best of the three versions.

Knight of Cups is fantastic! But also his most abstract film
Seen it 5 times already.

I saw the theatrical cut in 35mm last November and believe that is the better cut of the two I've seen. Kind of hope Criterion releases these two cuts, but that now seems doubtful.
