So the Wexner Center has been tweeting some of the Lee Kline/Phoebe Harmon presentation. No real news, but they did say yes when asked if we can expect any more Tarkovsky on Blu from them.

No other real tidbits, unfortunately, except that we can expect more Tarkovsky. The usual Criterion visitor (I can't recall his name) has looser lips but he was not in attendance.

Apparently, Blood Simple is also coming, according to some people who were in attendence. But, take this with a grain of salt.

They did release Inside Llweyn Davis so older Coen Brothers films wouldn't be that much of a surprise.

Edit: I would actually love if they started to treat Coen Brothers like they do Wes Anderson.

How long do films ordered from Criterion's website take to ship?

In addition to Blood Simple, Barton Fink also seems likely. Others, not so much. Although, a 4K scan of Lebowski would be great for its fans. Blood Simple will probably be announced within the next two months.

Great selections Mr.Owl. It's a Mad,Mad.. is completely hilarious from start to finish. Ethel Merman steals the movie everytime she opens her mouth and says a line. You'll have fun.

Just came out of seeing Hail Caesar... They are consistently thoughtful and creative. It wasn't great but it was a good film that stands with their other work and will provide a worthwhile second watch, too.

"good" Coens might as well be "great" (insert other director's name here,) so it was a good day at the movies. :-)

So has Criterion ran out of sources for new stuff to get into blu-ray?

Seems we are getting more and more blu-upgrades rather than at least dvd-upgrades.

I am sure they can deliver something new in each of those cases, maybe they know most people will double dip anyways because it is Criterion, but still...

Anyway this just a small gripe, I will probably buy some of them, I just wish there isn't any license issue with their current partners.

Yeah, still one of my top 3 Coens. A nice A/V upgrade would definitely get my money.

Oh have I got your attention now?

Good, because we're adding a little something to this month's Criterion contest.

As you all know first prize is a sealed copy of The Third Man.

Anyone wanna see second prize?

Second prize is a used copy of Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2.

Third prize is you're banned.

Get the picture?

...you laughing now?

Blood Simple is my absolute favorite Coen film, just above Fargo.

Would I buy it again on Blu-ray if Criterion does indeed release it?

Yes.

Am I becoming disappointed when every other announcement these days seems to be a title already out on BD?

Yeah, I have to admit I am.

Would I prefer upgrades of much anticipated DVD titles, especially when we have been waiting for years for many favorites to arrive on Blu-ray and some have been out overseas in Region B for months already?

YES!! YES!! YES!!

I am very happy Bicycle Thieves got an upgrade. I am, however, disturbed it is the only upgrade five months in to 2016. That just ain't right.
