I'd love to believe it. The fact that Devin Faraci is posting it based solely on a rumor (uncredited) from another site, rather than posting any confirmation from his sources -- which seem to run quite deep -- doesn't help it pass the sniff test. (He also badly misexplains the copyright issue that affects the film.)
Either way, it should be in the Criterion Collection. It is far more significant in terms of its cultural influence than most other horrors they have released, if not all of them

Interesting about the TV stuff, unfortunately it doesn't seem to include the full versions of two of the episodes "A Short Film about Killing\Love", which makes my decision easier

Do we know AE are releasing them, or do they just have the rights?

I was just thinking. Why hasnt Enter the Dragon been picked up? There is alot of historical importance to that film and I would love to see both cuts (the theatrical is only available on Laserdisc and VHS(?) and I would love to see Bruce Lee's dialogue added back in over John Littles dubbing.

Their partnership with Warner is still a new(ish) venture. WB put out the new remaster just a few years back, and I'm sure it's a decent seller for them, so it's probably unlikely they license it to Criterion, or that Criterion would feel they need to have it.

I ordered most of my titles online using the BNTROPICAL code. I ordered:

-The Darjeeling Limited
-Dressed to Kill
-The Game
-Modern Times
-The Player
I might be the only person in this forum at the moment to appreciate what you wrote there. That river is the Monongahela river by the way. It's funny because I think I also purchased On the Waterfront at the Waterfront Barnes & Noble... or it might have been the Barnes & Noble at the Waterworks (another ironic twist).

This is selling well at my local B&N. Only three copies left when I called to hold my copy.

Blow Out is not listed on Sale anymore at B&N. Does the sale price no longer apply if too many copies are purchased or if it's OOS?

I think I could ask my local B&N to hold a copy if that's the case.

It looks like B&N won't let you purchase a copy while it's OOS. The only option for the Blu ray is to go through the Market place. Wouldn't mind ordering it and waiting a while for it to come back in stock. Wanted to avoid multiple purchases if possible.

Yeah, your best bet is to wait a little while and see if it comes back, or perhaps find it locally if you can.

Wim Wenders: The Road Trilogy arrived in the mail today. It's beautiful package, and it was, thankfully, in perfect condition at my doorstep.

In faintly Criterion-related news, I made a blind buy of Richard Linklater's Everybody Wants Some!! when I stopped by Best Buy on the way home to buy Green Room (my second favorite movie of the year so far behind The Witch).

Richard Linklater is hit or miss with me, but I've got a good feeling about Everybody Wants Some!!. I guess that I have a soft spot for the early 1980s movies that capture that brief time window after the 1970s vibe, but before the "big '80s" look with glowingly colorful clothes, parachute pants, and such. I get the feeling that Everybody Wants Some!! is going to remind me of Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

It looks like the John Waters film we'll be getting is Multiple Maniacs. Had that been confirmed already?

Went by BN and grabbed:

Persona
Jules and Jim
Eraserhead
Dr. Strangelove
The Red Shoes

Planning on grabbing The New World and still debating if I want to grab Carnival of Souls now or wait until the next sale.

The Red Shoes was the only blind buy for me and I finally got around to watching it for the first time, and wow what an incredible film.

Happy hunting everyone.
