I think I'm in for the entire month. Heart of a Dog looks really intriguing. Very cerebral. I usually dig those kinds of films.

Very glad to see that The Asphalt Jungle and Fellini's Roma are being released. Roma has been on my radar for a while now, but I never got around to watching it. The Asphalt Jungle is a classic.

And the rest of the cast ain't nothing to sneeze at, either. Sterling Hayden, Jean Hagen, Sam Jaffe, James Whitmore, and one of my favorite character actors ever, Louis Calhern.

Very true, but Marilyn does it for me. I love her so much, and love anything where she is more than the ditzy blonde.

Ha ha!! I knew that was coming before I revealed what was under the spoiler tag.

I guess I kinda sound like those guys a little bit. When out of towners meet me they usually tell me that I have a heavy Chicago accent. ...and my dad and uncle have mustaches like that - ones that they've been sporting since the 70's.

And as a bonus.. I celebrated the Huston and the Bunuel announcements with Polish food this evening - kielbasa (polish sausage) and golabki (stuffed cabbage.)

Life is good.

Well, what a way to end the year 2016 with a December lineup like this!

A 1-2-3 director's punch of:

John Huston

Luis Buñuel

Federico Fellini

Wooooo! Criterion doesn't go out with a whimper but a BANG!

Sorry, lordmorpheus, I just had to.

By the way, I agree with your comment about Marilyn. I can never get enough of her.

that's so wrong, but, at the same time, having been born and raised in Wisconsin, there's a semblance of truth to it, too.

Regardless, I got a good laugh from it. Now, off to watch one of my Criterions!

I finally got some time and watched the first two films of The Apu Trilogy (I'm watching Apur Sansar tomorrow) and I'm impressed. The films capture the life of Apu and his family beautifully and the performances (particularly of Apu's mother) are amazing. Now I want more of Ray's filmography and I'm buying one of his films in the upcoming B&N November sale. Between The Big City and Charulata, which one would you buy first? Thanks for your help!
