It was on Hulu's Criterion channel for awhile. If that counts as a tease or not.

Stalker will be mine! Just in time for my Birthday too.

Lost in America looks like fun, I might blind-buy it.

He still looks great
Tatsuya Nakadai and Toshiro Mifune are two actors who I rank at the top of the mountain, standing there along with a few other of my favorites. Everyone else looks up at them and wishes they could be there too.

So glad that Tatsuya is still with us. And Toshiro too, in spirit.

Yes.

Although personally I think a better combination would be 3 Women, Naked, The 400 Blows, and A Night to Remember.

Damn, this is one of the best months in a long time. "Lost in America", "The War Trilogy", and "Stalker" are no-brainer pick-ups and "L'Argent" sounds really intriguing.

I would have preferred A.H.B, but L'argent is fine. Bresson didn't really mellow out with age. The Devil Probably and L'argent are probably his bleakest films and you can definitely see their influence on directors like Haneke.

Never seen Stalker but definitely interested.

The others I'll probably rent. Rome Open City is very good though, kind of excited to see it in HD.

I think the past three BN sales I've nearly bought War Trilogy but always held off (I know last summer I held it in my hand but decided against it lol). Really glad now I never pulled that trigger. I love when a good boxset releases during a half off sale

Stalker's an interesting film with SF elements. Rather leisurely paced but if you've seen any of Tarkovski's films (other than Ivan's Childhood, which is both dramatic and pacy) you know what to expect.

I just realised that we are currently as Spine #888 for Stalker.

Only 12 more until 900.

Should we take guesses onto what it'll be?

I'm probably in the minority, but I'm never excited when Criterion puts out a movie like this with a perfectly fine existing Blu-ray release.

Yes:

- It's a fantastic film.

- I look forward to seeing the artwork get "the Criterion treatment" (although Moonrise Kingdom's Criterion cover was massively disappointing to me).

- The Criterion extras should be good.

But still, it's hard to muster enthusiasm when I picked up the previous Blu-ray for $6, the case uses the lush poster art, and that disc looks great and already contains okay extras.

Come to think of it, I haven't bothered with any of Wes Anderson's movies on Criterion because all of the ones I own already have great previous Blu-ray releases that I've picked up for as cheap as $5-$6 (except for The Darjeeling Limited, which I do have the Criterion of).

I'm sure everyone will disagree, and that's fine.
