Why does she have to be a good dancer...? Why cant she just escape and express herself in that way, you get many people who do art that are clearly not artists but it doesn't stop them trying to express their emotions.

If it works for her character, does it matter if she does it well or not?

I can't wrap my head around this baffeling take. There was nothing like-able about Fassbender's character. He was pure human garbage.

Also it matters so very little (if at all) about her dancing ability. If you loose her character's sympathy because if dancing but don't lose sympathy for Fassbennder when he commits sexual assault the film's message has been so completely lost on you.

No need to discuss morality. I'm just curious what made him likable to you. I just pointed out the things that for me made it surprising that someone found him more likable (infinately more likable even) than the main character.

I don't have any opinion on the dancing. She's dances better than me, that's all i know.

actually, doesn't the fact that I liked the Fassbender character to the point at which he acts a fool parallel the hope and subsequent disappointment that the main character must have felt? isn't that exactly what is happening in this film until the midway point?

Silence of the Lambs has definitely been licenced from MGM, and it's not with Kino, so the options are limited. Shout recently said it's not with them, which surely only leaves Criterion (I can't see Arrow being able to outbid Kino).

Why not? Arrow licensed Donnie Darko, Ronin, The Thing. Some big titles. Interesting though, all signs point to Criterion getting this classic back. Cannot wait. Maybe it'll happen this fall.

It's one release out of the dozens they release each year. Plenty of other Blu-ray debuts and significant upgrades left. As for the current Blu-ray of Silence of the Lambs, it looks OK. A film of its caliber deserves to look like a million bucks. I'll never understand what "drab" has to do with a movie's qualifications for a remaster. That's based on what we've had to look at on home video thus far, and if you're talking strictly colors and lighting, increased detail and better contrast certainly improve the image.

Yeah I was strictly referring to the colors and lighting. I'd love it every film could get a 4K remaster so I guess that makes my previous post not make much sense but I just think we could use a Criterion for Lambs once everything else gets released first. I just never had any real issue with the current transfer.
