Tarkovsky films can put you to sleep if you're not in the right mood and I say that as someone who greatly admires his films. His work is brilliant, but he's not like most other master filmmakers whose films can be watched any time, any place. You have to be in a committed, serious mood to watch his work, which many of us aren't most of the time (I'm sure as hell not). I didn't have a huge problem getting through "Stalker", which is my favorite film of his. "Solaris" is glacially paced, even though I felt it was incredibly worth it by the end. "Andrei Rublev" is a challenge to sit through at points, but still feels worth it after the 3+ hours. "Ivan's Childhood" can be watched in any state of mind though. It's a great film and also reasonably accessible, as mentioned above.

I want Criterion to announce half of my Warner wishlist and I want WAC to announce the other half and I want it done by 3pm CST.

No cops.

Wait, no, that's a different note.

Criterion has hinted at Fire Walk with Me, which I watched a couple of weeks ago after seeing the two original seasons of Twin Peaks for the first time.

I hope that Criterion releases Fire Walk with Me as a stand-alone film, because it deserves more evaluation on its own terms.

I still have a feeling the Criterion edition of The Leopard unlike the Pathe restoration has the correct aspect ratio all other things considered. When I saw The Leopard projected here in Paris it was in 2.21:1 even after the new restoration was released here on blu-ray.

In either case, I don't think it really makes much sense for Criterion to re-release films on the same format unless they really botched a release as was the case with Madame de..., seeing as 2K is already a slightly higher resolution than 1080p, and if it's not from a 4K source then it's safe to say it's from a 2K one I would think. I think most people are perfectly content with the current Criterion editions of Belle de Jour, M et al. (at least I am), although I can understand the issue with The Leopard.

I'd love a Bad News Bears box set w/ the original, Breaking Training and Japan. Hell, throw in the TV series too.

I've seen the 4k restoration of Tiny Furniture. It's mind blowing. There is so much more furniture that you can see now.

I'm disappointed that it'll only be a 4K release and not a 4K 3D release.

I'd really like to see the furniture popping out at me.

The page for Rebbeca was up, but it quickly dissapeared. I took a screen, though.

September 5.

I wonder if we're getting Spellbound, and Notorious the same day too? Great news for sure, though I haven't even watched my MGM BD's yet lol
