Mulvaney does own a copy of 8 1/2 on blu-ray...

True that 4K is down-rezzed for a BR and a 2K transfer can look great as well (Persona is spectacular). I think there is a noticeable difference in 4k transfers versus a re-used HD master that Criterion used for DVD. There's also the fact a 4K transfer usually means the film has been revisited and given extra loving care.

Speaking of this, how do people feel about the 4K restoration of PlayTime specifically with respect to the colors. Personally, I prefer the more greenish hue of the new restoration as opposed to the blue-ish grey of the old Criterion, but which is more accurate?

Have to give another huge endorsement for a rarely mentioned Criterion:

Pale Flower

A true stone cold classic! One of my favorite Criterions.

It's so cool that it's effortless in it's cool noir style. It seemed to me to be like a Japanese yakuza Antonioni, in a way.

I didn't even know they were interested in livestock.

Having revisited The Breakfast Club recently I don't think it has aged well. My opinion, hope others enjoy this release if that's what it is.

Wow could you imagine if Universal and Criterion were able to get the longer original Hughes estate owned cut of The Breakfast Club! That is my pipe dream.

That's definitely one of the more obvious clues we've had in a while. So The Breakfast Club, and Sixteen Candles so far, interesting.

I never have cared for it (it's obvious and heavy-handed), and I was in high school when it was released. Go figure.

TBC would be incredibly stupid choice since Uni already released remastered editions a couple of years ago,

Eggs are a symbol for the start of life, life on a tray...lettuce is very similar to leaves, like those found on trees. The skewers are very reminiscent of a cross, giving the whole picture a vague religious overtone.

Tree of Life confirmed.
