Which is fine, since the Criterion edition trumps the new 4K 'restoration' anyway.

It does look like their trademark look, but I don't think they were involved this time. The restoration was done directly by the Fassbinder Foundation.

The only phantom pages that correlate to future releases are those added on announcement day.

The others are just hopeful wishes.

True.

But what's wrong with a hopeful wish?

Pretty sure 2k scanning equipment was not the norm in 2003, most likely a 1080p HD telecine like a lot of the HD masters from that period.

I remember enjoying that movie quite a bit - hopefully it aged well. It had a great cast and some really funny writing. Still, if I had to pick one Hope Davis flic - especially for Criterion - I'd go with American Splendor.

Really? I hope they don't waste a slot on that film. While it could use a remaster, I just don't see it as even coming close to approaching top-tier status.

Just dropped in to Beaver to catch up on reviews, and he is having a giveaway to celebrate his 5000th BD review. Three prizes up for grabs, two of which are very desirable OOP Criterion releases: A copy of The Third Man, and the AK 100 set. Very nice!

Most agree. I'm just basing that off their newsletter clue:

Boulder + Ham = Bull Durham

Not the norm, but for a treasure of the silent era and one of the greatest films ever made? Sony did scan Dr. Strangelove in 4K in 2004.

What happened to them releasing Leaving Las Vegas? I was looking forward to that.

Also, it's been 3.5 years since the last Polanski.

Does anyone own Les Blank: Always for Pleasure?

If so, could you please confirm if there is artwork underneath the disc trays?

Good question. If I recall correctly, the director even confirmed a 20th anniversary edition was in the works.
