Could it possibly mean that Rohmer's Six Moral Tales might come to BluRay?

Their pricing has never been competitive outside of the Criterion sales and they don't match prices with their own online store, much less any of the other brick and mortar chains.

I love B&N and will be heartbroken when and if they finally go under, but they could be doing so much more than they have to stay in the retail game.

I actually think that B&N has given up trying to compete price-wise in their b&m stores. Instead, they’re targeting the clueless and impatient. Unfortunately, by reducing inventory, they’re losing the impatient shoppers. If you have to order it anyway ...

Had BBS Story and the Demy set arrive today. I'd owned BBS set before, and glad to have it back - lovely design. The Demy is a pretty set, but my goodness is it badly designed. All of the digipacks are too wide [noticeable gap between the plastic disc holders] and the placement of the plastic disc holders themselves on the cardboard is sloppy at best (thankfully not really noticeable until you open them). I don't own any other dual-format releases, do others suffer from similar issues?

Good question. Here's a zoom of the image. I've increased the brightness.

Last September they released Rebecca, so maybe this year they’ll do Spellbound!

(Ok, I know it doesn’t work that way)

I'm assuming Monday. What titles will get announced? Probably a bunch I never heard of before, I dunno.

My (magnificent) guesses:

The Magnificent Ambersons
Cold Water
Eight Hours Don't Make a Day
The Magnificent Seven
Andrei Rublev

Oh yeah, how could I forget? The Magnificent Ambersons is a given sooner or later. Would love to see Andrei Rublev too. Wouldn't surprise me if the remastered Ran or the lingering Hitchcocks (Spellbound, Notorious) get picked.

Other than that, the only thing I can think of is more Kubrick (Lolita is probably most likely, but I'm still crossing my gobblywogs for A Clockwork Orange). Other guesses: Until the End of the World, or a World Cinema Project Volume 3. Would guess Pink Flamingoes, but I doubt it'll happen so soon after Female Trouble got announced.

Would love to see more DVD-to-BD upgrades (like Onibaba, Thief of Bagdad, Floating Weeds, or my top want, the Eisenstein Sound Years Set), but I'm not holding my breath. Been a lot of good ones already this year.

EDIT:
Briefly thought back on that one drawing with the grapes lying under a blazing sun--could Raisin in the Sun be announced? Or could it be a clue for Grapes of Wrath? I'm guessing one or the other is inevitable.

Oh man, I will be very happy when Floating Weeds finally gets a BD release from Criterion. With the new 4K restoration screened a couple months back, I think it's only a matter of time now. It's been my most wanted upgrade for a while now.

John Waters said the next Criterion release will be Polyester in 2019.
He didn’t mention Pink Flamingos but I hope it’ll be soon after Polyester.

Upgrades for Viridiana or La Strada would also be cool. Also, the 4K restorations of Annie Hall or Manhattan.

My most wanted title remains Greed but who knows what’s happening with that movie.

I've given up guessing but this would be my dream month:

The Magnificent Ambersons
Spellbound
Notorious
49th Parallel
The Lady Eve

I don't remember a definitive guess on that one - maybe we'll find out soon.

We should still be seeing True Stories and My Brilliant Career at some point.

Film critic Jonathan Rosenbaum, who recorded an audio commentary for AMBERSONS, said in a recent Facebook post that he believes AMBERSONS will be released in November.
