Same. It's def. going to come, though. I expect it to be the next Wenders release. And you know how long it takes them to go through director's catalogs.

I think I'd be happier with box set releases ala Bergman when they have director catalogs. Like right off the bat. Instead of waiting a year or more to get another Chaplin film, or a Lloyd film, etc.

Agreed! By the way are you the same Nissling as the one I talk with on the lddb forums? Always nice to see a familiar name

I'd love for this one to be a box set that includes some or all of the many versions this film has had. I imagine they'll release the two part version they screened back in 2015, but the most interesting sounding version to me is the three part one released on DVD ages ago. When I first saw the theatrical version years ago I thought it would suit a mini series structure more than everything in one sitting.

Is there any hope for Funny Games (1997)?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it'll be the 5 hour director's cut that toured (that I got to see in theaters, which was marvelous). I'm not exactly sure Wenders has any interest in that theatrical cut, so I'm unsure if it'll also be on the disc. But maybe he'll allow it for comparative purposes?

It's probably just a matter of time. I'd love to see that come down the pipes, along with Haneke's Time of the Wolf and Cache.

Are we even sure there will be a regular announcement this month? After that 39-megaton Bergman box, I don't know if Criterion has anything left in the tank!

I've still yet to see either of the five hour cuts, the longest I've seen is the three hour Japanese laserdisc version. From what I've heard both the three part and two part versions have the same content. Where did they put the break point in the one you saw?

I'm sure. The same thing happened last year with the Olympic box and business went on as usual.

I hope so, because I'd rather have something else.

Hah! I've always wanted to see this film. I can see them releasing it sometime. It has their name on it.

Velvet Goldmine would be an interesting development as it is a Miramax title, but I wouldn't put too much stock in Criterion Cast tweeting about it.

If it weren't announcement day, I probably wouldn't have even noticed.

The current Region A BD of Velvet Goldmine is pretty bad—it looks like a DVD-era HD master, and it's framed incorrectly—so a Region A release of the drastically improved French 2K restoration by Carlotta would be most welcome. It's a slightly different cut, though only by slightly extending some scenes, so I'd be curious to see if they—whoever they is—would port the director's commentary and just pad out some silence. I've kept both releases, since the Haynes/Vachon commentary on the US cut is pretty good. It's one of my favorite movies, though, so I'd buy it a third time in a heartbeat if they were able to get some good extras.

One title has already popped up in the 'coming soon' section, so I would imagine so.

I just realized nothing from Todd Haynes has hit Criterion yet. Velvet Goldmine would be an interesting choice.
