Unless Criterion release some of these, there seems very little prospect of them ever appearing on Blu-ray.

Not sure about WOW, but the others are all part of the same parent company so, they probably share the same warehouse stock.

Items are in stock at one but not another with reasonable frequency, though. Machurian Candidate went OOS at one but not any of the others last week, for example.

I considered checking the Criterion site, then I remembered what a godawful mess it is and thought better of it.

Why they changed it from the perfectly functional previous design, I have no idea. I don't think I've been there since.

I don't think it would matter anyway because I seem to remember that orders submitted through Criterion are shipped from that same warehouse too.

It looks like it's still available on Amazon.

It would at least tell you if it's OOP.

I wasn't planning on buying it, I just saw it go OOS at all those places at once and it seemed odd.

Stock issues are just that: stock issues.

None of those titles are OOP. A title is ONLY OOP if it says so on Criterion's site.

They're all basically the same store (or supplied by the same online Fulfillment warehouse - ALLIANCE/SuperD ) -- as are TCM, FYE, B&N, Blowitoutahere and about 2 dozen others. WOW seems to be DD international arm

It's not at all unusual for stock to pretty much come and go simultaneously at all of them for online sales.

The same warehouse also supplies a decent proportion of BestBuy and Walmart stock though those retailers aren't single source anymore. Even Amazon and ALLIANCE have some connection. Criterion.com uses them for much of their online sales though I think Criterion does have exclusive control of at least some of the physical stock.

KL Insider when the Universal deal was announced also said Universal didn't give them The Man Who Laughs which they asked for, which had a new restoration. That would be a film that deserves the Criterion treatment.

Also, it's long overdue that Mae West comes to BluRay. My Little Chickadee would be a good start, though I would like a Dietrich-Von Sternberg-esque box set.

I figured since this is Criterion related I'd post it here for anyone interested.
Quick watercolor & ink of my favorite scene from Paris, Texas!
(it's been awhile so I'm a lil rusty but I think it came out pretty nice)

Nice work, Kyle. I could instantly tell it was Paris Texas. I really dig the pink tones you used for the shadows.

18 minutes into Floating Weeds by Ozu and I'm wondering why this isn't already in blu ray format.

Very comedic.

It was released in the UK by the Masters of Cinema line.

Something Wild is a heck of a film, was not expecting something this well done even though I like Demme but this was a very very pleasant surprise!

Once Criterion releases their Wong Kar Wai set, it would be completely amazing if they then proceeded to work on a Zhang Yimou - Gong Li set.

The films badly need a blu release (and restorations) and almost all of them are of such a high quality that it would be a dream come true.
