The problem with Pierrot Le Fou is the recent 4K restoration didn't have the Samuel Fuller scene tinted green.
I've been holding out on getting the Optimum release of "Pierrot Le Fou" just in case a new remastered disc is release. The old master doesn't look terrible but is starting to show its age.

I think we'll see the new Criterion Channel have 4K content before any physical releases. So far, the only 4K master confirmed to have HDR is sex, lies, and videotape.

Why having 4K on a low bitrate streaming source? Wouldn't it make more sense to have 4K HDR on disc so that bandwidth won't be an issue?

I keep seeing the price of UHD manufacturing cited as the reason why Criterion isn't producing any. I imagine 4K streaming would be a much more cost-effective method of delivery.

I made it through I Could Go on Singing! Quite proud of myself. Getting to watch Irma La Douce afterwards definitely made it worthwhile.

Next up: The Great Escape. Which I'm looking forward to but at almost three hours it might be tough to find the time.

Others believe that the real reason is the fact that most titles are pretty old films and would not be able to get direct supervision or approval from their directors

I’d much prefer that Criterion release both, and with Westfront 1918 and Kameradschaft both receiving recent Criterion releases, I have hope that we’ll see Miss Brooks get a page on Criterion’s site soon.
This is one of my most wanted upgrades. Diary of a Lost Girl is a fine film and nice release from KL but I felt Pandora's Box (and Louise Brooks' performance in it) were on an entirely different level. Along with Sunrise, Pandora's Box is one of the most compelling silents I've seen. Would love a release in 2019.

It’s too bad they couldn’t afford Billy Joel for the DVD release. That song is such an important part of the show.

I know how HDR works but how would that benefit most films they restore? Majority of the film they restore are made with old technology and stuff and I'm guessing its safe to say most were never made with HDR in mind... SO wouldn't HDR ruin the look of some of these films and wouldn't represent what the director originally intended?

Does that make any sense lol..? XD

How many times does this have to be brought up in this thread? It feels like this question is asked every few pages. Am I going crazy????

A Bridge On The River Kwai was remastered in 4K HDR and it looks spectacular. If it can be done with that particular movie why can't it be done with other movies also dating decades ago also?

I say all that because I think that the expenses involved in releasing their titles on a third format probably aren't justified by the amount of sales they would yield. At this point in time, 4K is seen by many as a format for Disney blockbusters and that sort of thing.
We have 2001: A Space Odyssey, Blade Runner, Unforgiven, The Bridge Over the River Kwai, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, ... etc. on 4K now. So what you just said is certainly true there is a partially bigger picture to the full picture.

The Best that it could be, Criterion Collection for true movie lovers with deep cinema passion. ...From DVD, to Blu-ray, ...and to 4K...one of these days. You cannot stop what can't be stop. ...Even 3D Blu-ray; Pina.

Criterion they always took their time to offer us the best; they will too with 4K.
It's not a question of if, it's a question of when. ...When they are ready, and we'll be ready too.

Finally got around to placing my B&N sale order:

None are blind buys, but it has been 30-40 years since I have seen Raisin in the Sun or The Magnificent Ambersons. Some Like it Hot I have seen many times over the years and I'm looking forward to revisiting it.

These may well be my last blu ray purchases for 2018. I have to start buying presents for other people now.

Reading up on it and that film and to have a HDR colour grade on it, which goes back to what I said about Criterion trying to restore films to what the director originally intended.

I guess its a controversial one as there has been questionable restores throughout collection which do contradict how the film was originally presented.

Or maybe I have no idea what im talking about lol

42 if you count Bergman Island which is an extra that has a spine #.

I was going to whine about how I won't get my Bergman set until the end of Feb/beginning of March.

Then I was looking at my un-watched pile, and realized that that would be absurd.
