Because Paramount has basically stopped doing catalog titles so we have to wait for other labels to get them.

When was the last Paramount Criterion release? Virgin Suicides?

Paramount is sitting on the Chinatown 4k restoration, too. Criterion could probably have it with some effort.

I hope Bringing Out the Dead and The Dead Zone get some Criterion love.

Wasn't Mikey and Nicky a Paramount title? Could be wrong though.

That was licensed from Jumer productions. Last Paramount title was Moonrise.

My hope is that someday Criterion (or another label) releases quality versions of Thirty-Two Short Films About Glenn Gould and Memories of Murder.

Paramount produced the film, but Julian Schlossberg (a former Paramount exec who had left for his own indie company) bought it from them after the theatrical release. If not for that, the film would presumably still only exist in its theatrical cut, rather than the recut that tried to better emulate Elaine May's wishes (my understanding is that she wasn't involved in the recut other than approving it after the fact, but I might be wrong; either way, it only happened because the film was bought from Paramount).

My categories below are a little arbitrary, but what am I missing?

Confirmed:
Koker Trilogy
Bamboozled
Eyes of Orson Welles
Polyester
Wong Kar Wai remasters

Strong Rumor:
Cluny Brown
Cloud-Capped Star
After Hours
Other Side of the Wind
Ikarie XB-1
The Cameraman
Matewan
Secret of Roan Inish
When We Were Kings/Grateful Dead Movie/Gast set
Elephant Man
Kurosawa set (this one’s purely speculative, but seems realistic)
Godzilla set (same as above)

The Cameraman is confirmed since it was restored by Criterion and WB. Also Matewan and Secret of Roan Inish was confirmed by the director.

I think the Koker Trilogy will be announced tomorrow and with the new Godzilla movie coming out, maybe that may be the surprise tomorrow. I really hope they put out a Chaplin release. It's been too long....

Cluny Brown is confirmed (obvious newsletter clue) and Ikarie is confirmed (Janus lists a forthcoming blu-ray).

There is also no rumored Gast set, it seems. The clue was likely for a set of An American Dream and King of the Beats.

I've been out of the loop for a few weeks... but holy sh-t at this news.

But at the same time... is this guy even reliable?

Yeah, don't know how I feel about some of the reliability of information (the Sayles in particular). People seem to love to make up, hallucinate, or willfully misunderstand information to support things they wish were true rather than live in a world of actual facts. I was just trying to put together a one-stop list of where we're at with a lot of this stuff and if I got it wrong, at least the stakes are low.

As for the Gast set, a quick set of Google searches finds very little on films called "An American Dream" and "King of the Beats". Would love more information, if you have it KJones. As it is, I've removed them from the list and moved "Cluny Brown" and "Cloud-Capped Star" to confirmed, as both do seem like obvious clues and films that fit the Criterion ethos pretty strongly.

I copied and pasted incorrectly and put the Sayles under confirmed, when they are far from that.
