Nope. Standard Scanavo case.

My library has many of the Criterion releases on Blu-Ray. Not all, but a lot.

But I don't mind if I get the DVD. The Criterion DVDs are still excellent and better PQ wouldn't change my mind on whether to buy it or not. I have to really like the movie if I'm going to buy it.

I connect my laptop to one of my AV receiver’s HDMI inputs. It’s HD resolution.

Just picked up:

And with that purchase I have 1) emptied my wishlist and 2) filled the shelf-space I have allocated for Criterion titles.

Just watched my Criterion blind buy of "The King of Jazz". Wow... just wow! Anyone looking for a rarely mentioned (on this site) precode acid trip musical, full of numerous jaw dropping WTF moments and performances, incredible sets, and amazing choreography with some of the raunchiest chorus girl numbers that this film lover has ever seen, then do not hesitate to pick this up.

And I do mean this is THE strangest acid trip precode musical that I've ever seen.

PQ is outstanding for an early 2 strip Technicolor film.

A stone cold classic, this has my highest recommendation for anyone looking for something weird and wonderful.

Question for the Criterion Guru's in this thread:

I want to order the Complete Monterey Pop Festival 3-movie collection during the B&N sale, but the one they have in stock has a cover I've never seen (different from that shown on the criterion website) and is advertised as 'Full Frame':

https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/dvd...=0715515206419

I assume the regular one is letterboxed then, and this is NOT the one I want? Should I just wait a few days and check again, or does B&N not typically renew its stock until after its sale months?

Thank you!

They changed the Cluny Brown cover art:

New cover:
[Show spoiler]

Old cover:

[Show spoiler]

It's actually worse now. At least the red was fine.

Criterion, please change the awful drawing that makes Jennifer Jones look like a robot.

That listing has been incorrect since it was first listed. You may want to call them.

BTW- Festival is a great blu-ray, too.

My one and only order for the sale:

The Kid (1921)
A Face In The Crowd (1957)
The Heiress (1949)
Do The Right Thing (1989, preorder)
Easy Living (1937, preorder. It's a Kino title, and it'll be shipped out with DTRT)

All I have left on my CC wishlist:

Some Like It Hot (1959)
The Circus (1928, comes out in September)

Had sort of already made my purchases for the month (in addition to a few pre-orders), but I wasn't expecting a B&N sale so I had to grab one more Blu-ray I've been wanting for a long time:

Thank you for the response. So are you saying this is the correct item to order then (i.e. they just have the incorrect cover photo)?

Maybe, but I wouldn't say for certain that that's the right item to order. Festival (as shown on your B&N link) was for the Newport Folk Festival. The latest complete edition for the Monterey Festival was this one:

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-C...lu-ray/189159/

I couldn't find that version on their site, although I did see the shorter edition and the OOP version previously released.

Here's what I plan on getting:

Hedwig and the Angry Inch
BRD Trilogy
Do The Right Thing
Blue Velvet
Face in the Crowd
One Sings, The Other Doesn't
Swing Time
Wanda

I also want to get Night on Earth, Stranger Than Paradise, and Down by Law. But I might wait until the November sale to get those.

A shame about the Cluny Brown cover. Definitely won't stop me from getting it.
