I won't bother naming them, but there are several films, some Criterion and some not, for which I feel the same way. I can't say exactly why, but the films reach me and touch me in a way that few do.

I don't know if the reviewer's capture method is to blame or there are issues with the encoding, but some of the screenshots of Criterion's The Marriage of Maria Braun at Beaver look smeary and riddled with artifacts.

It's quite possibly my favorite film of all time.

Could not describe how overwhelming the opening scene to Contempt felt when I first watched it, easily my favourite opening to any film

I love in a trip to Italy they spot the house. If I remember correctly they forget the title and just call it that film with the song that plays over and over

Curious for those who are Barnes and Noble members. Do you get the 10% off online purchases too?

You don't get the 10% member discount for online orders, but you do get free shipping on any order, regardless of size.

You need to call a store (any store, not necessarily one close to you) and request to do a ship to home order.

Online sale prices won't always show up when looked up in store- but with a regular promotion like the Criterion sales, the prices will be the same regardless.
In ringing up the ship to home order, they will enter your membership # and you will get the discount + the free expedited shipping.

A further tip- go to the B&N product page and copy down the UPC codes for what you want first and give the clerk those numbers instead of the titles. Makes it much quicker and easier all around.

It's finally happening. Video is currently unlisted but this seems like definite confirmation that Streetwise will be coming soon.

Are you able to say anything more about the restoration and the issues with it?

Yes, I hope that Criterion releases STREETWISE. The German PAL release has burned-in subtitles that detract from the image.

One of the young girls in STREETWISE was later murdered by Seattle's infamous Green River Killer, Gary Ridgway.

I really hope STREETWISE surfaces on BD. It's one of the best documentaries of the '80s, up there with THE THIN BLUE LINE, BEST BOY and HOTEL TERMINUS: THE LIFE AND TIMES OF KLAUS BARBIE. In fact, I wonder if STREETWISE bests them all in its decade. Stunning film.

Reminder that Target price matches Barnes and Noble. So for those RED card holders, you get an additional 5% and free shipping. Just pre-ordered Do The Right Thing.

As if by fate, just a few days before the blu ray premier of Europa Europa, it's producer Artur Brauner died today.

Can't say I'm a super-fan like others here but if it included 2046 I'd be all over that.

Streetwise is one of the most powerful documentaries I've ever seen. Fantastic to see that Janus have restored it, and I'm sure that they'll be releasing it soon with Tiny: The Life of Erin Blackwell which Janus have also made a trailer for
