Is Mean streets still in the cards? I remember talk of it at some point. I just wonder if Who’s That Knocking At My Door will be included with it.

I just watched it again on Netflix and some shots look way better than others, which I’m sure could be source related, but I’d love to get a physical release of it. I think it would go well with Mean Streets.

Presumably it is.

Akijama had posted this list of Warner titles that went OOP around the same time, and many have been released by Criterion. It was a similar situation to a list posted by Yami a few years back, which all got released by CC eventually. I've bolded the ones Criterion have released already.

Round Midnight
The Roaring Twenties
The Philadelphia Story
Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid
O Lucky Man
Lone Star
Hedwig & The Angry Inch
Captain Blood
Bringing Up Baby
Arsenic and Old Lace

also...

Mean Streets
Barry Lyndon

The fact that these were listed as OOP in the same time as some of the titles licensed to CC, led me to believe that, perhaps, I'm on something here, and that this is not merely a coincidence. We shall see...

BRINGING UP BABY would be great, too. It's about time it came to Blu-ray.

I posted about this in the Half Price Books thread, but today, HPB had a 50% coupon for your highest priced item. I found the Criterion Blu of Last Year at Marienbad. It was $75, but my 50% off coupon brought it to $37.48.

It's missing the booklet, but what a steal for an OOP title!

I'm not lying. I've actually been thinking they may skip it in favor of reserving #1000 for November's announcements.

So, this beauty arrived in the mail today.

I cannot wait to see the new restoration.

And on the subject of tomorrow's announcements, while I really want Roman Holiday and Bringing Up Baby, both, there's another Cary Grant title I am itching to own on blu-ray. Arsenic and Old Lace.

One would think that every film with Audrey Hepburn, Cary Grant, Gregory Peck or Katharine Hepburn would be out by now, especially those with more than one of them.

Just saw that Come and See is being released in France in two months time...

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Come-...lu-ray/245067/

If it is sourced from the 4K restoration back in 2016, then I am hoping and praying that it means Criterion are finally planning a release for it soon. Even if it isn't Criterion, I am hoping for the likes of either Eureka!, Arrow Academy or Kino to release it. Would make the entire year if it is announced today, but I highly doubt it...

Cool for people that enjoy these but I’d definitely have no interest in a Godzilla boxset. I know it’s snobby but They don’t have much artistic merit for me.

I understand your sentiment, but it potentially could be a significant money maker for them which leads to other wonderful releases that would be nice seeing returned to the fold such as Ran or the John Woo films. It also can fund restorations of the older classics. I find the first Godzilla interesting and the others silly but have members of my family who are nuts about them. You can not deny their significance which is what Criterion is all about.

I think a 2018 movie will be announced tomorrow but not "Roma". Given their work with IFC and the distribution of other films of his, "The House That Jack Built" seems primed for Criterion-izing this year.

It would be nice to see a blu-ray of The Volga Boatman (1926) with William Boyd. The Godless Girl(1929) would also be an interesting choice.

To each their own. Some of us have been waiting a couple years for this. And the films have never been treated particularly well home media wise.
