It's still a very good price on the set. Hopefully the packaging survives the packing and shipping. My outer box was ripped to shreds when I bought it from Criterion a few sales back, but they were nice enough to send a pristine replacement.

But with the exorbitant shipping at Criterion it's more money, so Amazon does still win if comparing the two purchases side by side.

edit: Also, I believe you're wrong about the Hitchcock price. From my recollection, and quickly looking back, I believe it goes down to $47 during the flash sales.

Somehow I think Criterion may pull a Frank Costanza and stop short.

Unfortunately, only French subs but it is sourced from a new 2K scan that premiered at Venice back in 2016 (that was a 4K restoration).

I am hoping and praying that this means Criterion will release it soon because we have been dying for this release for a very long time now. If not them, then I hope the likes of Eureka!, Arrow Academy or Kino snap it up...

Recommendations are welcome.

I actually saw 'Valerie' for the first time last night and had to buy it today on Amazon. Can't get some of those images out of my head, I loved it (but I can easily see why it's not for everyone).

And how I feel about the classic Hollywood song and dance pictures. I just don't get the appeal. But I never get tired of watching Water's movies. Just different tastes.

John Waters did more than most to popularize the camp sensibility. How does this not fit Criterion's mission?
