I swear if they pull some Citizen Kane shit for Spine 1000 I’m gonna be incredibly disappointed. I don’t even care if it’s UHD.

You're the only one that keeps bringing up Citizen Kane, and it's not like there's even a whisper of a hint about them releasing it.

I'll get Häxan for sure, and maybe also 3 Silent Classics by Josef von Sternberg.

"Something big" has got to be Godzilla. I'll wait, impatiently. Not like I have a choice...

Yes! All of them (aside from Satantango, which we already know is coming), but Damnation and Werckmeister Harmonies especially are absolute musts on Blu-ray.

Guess we’ll see what they announce next week and if it’s worthy of “film buffs”.

Josef von Sternberg looks like a suave Dick Casablancas from Veronica Mars!

I said Citizen Kane shit. As in something that’s just gonna be as boring of an announcement as Citizen Kane would be.

News to me that I’m not a film buff. Guess I have to return all of my Criterions.
Try reading what I wrote. I said for anyone solely interested in Godzilla. Anyone who's solely interested in Godzilla would imply they're not interested in any other films, and therefore would not be considered general film buffs in my opinion. I never said being a Godzilla fan and a film buff were mutually exclusive. I'm both.

I know I've mentioned this before but it's worth repeating since Matewan has been announced, Thinking in Pictures by John Sayles is one of the better books on filmmaking I've read. He breaks down everything from the script (the shooting script is included in the back of the book), the sound, location scouting, fundraising/financing, even the call sheets, and much more. You can get it used from B&N pretty cheap if you want.

Doesn't SDCC run until Monday?

Who on here is solely interested in Godzilla? Is there someone on here that just owns Godzilla movies????

I've been under the impression Toho is announcing things on Friday. So unless they hold it till Monday it doesn't line up. This is all just hearsay though, don't quote me.

If Godzilla is announced at Comic-Con tomorrow or over the weekend, and the mythical spine 1,000 is something else entirely, I won't complain one bit about that.

If #1,000 is something I care about, it'll be double the joy! And while I may be immature, I'm not childish enough to care about the Godzilla box set's spine number or whether it has one.

Not if Godzilla is unnumbered.

I'm sure there are. I'm not saying starsteam is, but he has stated he is purely in this thread for the Godzilla announcement, and nothing else. I'm not saying he's not a film buff, but it also doesn't make sense for him to trash on the announcements simply because Godzilla is missing, when he probably isn't even familiar with the movies. They could be some the greatest films of all time, but the fact that it's not Godzilla makes it a dull lineup for him. That's sad.

A poster at Criterionforum said that they'd spoken to someone in the know who has confirmed that Criterion has Citizen Kane. So, whether we choose to believe it, there are definitely rumours.

Was this recently? First I'm hearing about it. Is there a link you could provide?
