Blu sets of the complete (existing) MGM silents for both Garbo and Chaney would be amazing if Criterion worked with WB on those.
It's weird how Kino was able to do two massive box sets of early African-American and women director cinema via kickstarter budgets while we don't have much like that for major studio work. |

OMG - that's fantastic news! I've been wish-listing it in this thread for years every month before announcement day. A couple of weeks ago I finally gave up hope and bought the DVD used. *Off to Amazon Germany to find a listing* |

List of Toho's (produced or just distributed) sci-fi films from the 50s-80s (according to Wikipedia):
1. Godzilla (1954) 2. The Invisible Avenger (1954) 3. Godzilla Raids Again (1955) 4. Half Human (1955) 5. Rodan (1956) 6. The Mysterians (1957) 7. The H-Man (1958) 8. Varan (1958) 9. Battle in Outer Space (1959) 10. The Secret of the Telegian (1960) 11. The Human Vapor (1960) 12. Mothra (1961) 13. The Last War (1961) 14. Gorath (1962) 15. King Kong vs. Godzilla (1962) 16. Matango (1963) 17. Atragon (1963) 18. Motra vs. Godzilla (1964) 19. Dogora (1964) 20. Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster (1964) 21. Frankenstein Conquers the World (1965) 22. Invasion of Astro-Monster (1965) 23. The Face of Another (1966) 24. War of the Gargantuas (1966) 25. Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster (1966) 26. Son of Godzilla (1967) 27. King Kong Escapes (1967) 28. Destroy All Monsters (1968) 29. Latitude Zero (1969) 30. All Monsters Attack (1969) 31. Space Amoeba (1970) 32. Godzilla vs Hedorah (1971) 33. Godzilla vs. Gigan (1972) 34. Daigora vs. Goliath (1972) 35. Submersion of Japan (1973) 36. Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1974) 37. ESPY (1974) 38. Prophecies of Nostradamus (1974) 39. Terror of Mechagodzilla (1975) 40. The Last Dinosaur (1977) 41. The War in Space (1977) 42. Phoenix 2772 (1980) 43. Techno Police 21C (1982) 44. Sayonara Jupiter (1984) 45. Macross: Do You Remember Love? (1984) 46. Urusei Yatsura: Beautiful Dreamer (1984) 47. The Return of Godzilla (1984) 48. Vampire Hunter D (1985) 49. Neo Tokyo (1987) 50. Tokyo: The Last Megalopolis (1988) 51. Akira (1988) 52. Godzilla vs. Biollante (1989) 53. Gunhed (1989) 54. Tokyo: The Last War (1989) I would be very happy with a Godzilla box set featuring definitive editions of all the films from 1954-1989. However, I am actually more interested in some of Ishiro Hondas non-Godzilla films, especially Matango. The Face of Another is the only live-action film that is tonally too serious, IMO, to be included in an extended Toho sci-fi box set. Anime is very unlikely to be included in an extended box set (especially Akira and Macross). But I hope someone (e.g. Discotek Media) picks up Neo Tokyo soon. Phoenix 2772 also looks interesting. |

Gimme: The Devils More Lynch Special Section The Tenant & Querelle And then get on that UHD train w Roma & Cold War. Two great foreign films from last year w/o a proper release still. Plus, they'd be two more B&W UHDs. Yeah, I know blame the studios......I blame the audiences! |

I would pass. That and Twin Peaks Fire Walk With Me are his least interesting movies to me--the latter which I might go as far as to say is bad.
Tarantino and his new movie reignited my interest in new holly wood(1965-1980) and unfortunately with a lot of that stuff there's not even a dvd release, much less any interest on Criterion's part to bringing those movies back. They seem to cater to the movies academics think is worthy of their treatment. Last edited by VaguellyAlluring1; 07-19-2019 at 11:10 PM. |

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Hollywood Here's a list of all their American movies from the 60s and 70s. Of course they aren't all "new hollywood" but plenty are. I recommend the BBS box and Two-Lane Blacktop for a good start |

Fire Walk With Me is a masterpiece, although it took me years to realize it. Tarantino was part of the Cannes 1992 audience booing the movie lol. He was there to promote Reservoir Dogs
