I watched Klute last night...first time viewing.

Very interesting picture on multiple levels.

Never been a big Jane Fonda fan, but she really killed it in this one.

The only thing i’m not sold on is the title.

...not really sure why they chose Klute.

I'm guessing because it's kind of an enigmatic film and Klute is an enigmatic title if you're unfamiliar with the premise of the film. I remember seeing the film on the shelves of video stores as a kid and having no clue what "Klute" was about, just that it was such a strange title. I suppose a more appropriate title would have been "Bree" or "Bree Daniels", since the film revolves around the Fonda character.

A Klute sounds like an unusual kind of bowel movement. "Stay out of the bathroom for half an hour, I just took a massive klute."

I think Klute is a good title when looking at it through Bree. She is the main character and it would make sense to name it after her, but he is kind of a symbol for the her wanting to leave her way of life and the city but also not wanting to—hence the kind of The Graduate like ambiguous ending scene. He’s a clean cut country boy who doesn’t belong in that world

Personally I think a better title would’ve been I Never Cum For Johns.

...it has that Italian Giallo feel to it.

My preferred giallo title would be “Do You Like Me To Walk Across Your Chest In High Heel Shoes?”

No one said they weren't. Europa was released by them on DVD and is still in print. So we know they have the rights to it.

I would love to upgrade my Dogville DVD! It’s served me well all these years after I bought it at a Bed, Bath, and Beyond for $5!

Not Blu-ray, but Dogville is available digitally in HD and it's only 3 for $5 this week on VUDU.

I've been meaning to watch this for the first time and own a blu-ray of this since hearing Del Toro discussing it for Criterion, and this short video essay...

My first thought was that Ingmar Bergman's Cinema will be out of the question during my recovery.
Not Criterion-related, but I wanted to touch base after my previous post.

I am out of surgery and now in my hospital room. Based on what my father relayed to me from his conversation with the doctors while I was waking up in the surgery recovery room, the surgeon removed roughly a foot of my colon, and he (the surgeon) seems to think that the large mass in my colon that necessitated this operation was benign. I will have more information after I get a chance to talk to the surgeon face-to-face tomorrow.

There is a long vertical incision in the middle of my abdomen that goes across my navel, since the doctor needed to perform an open surgery, as opposed to laparoscopic surgery, out of concern for possible scar tissue in the area from my ruptured appendix operation 17 months ago.

I am relieved to report that I do not have an ostomy bag or a JP drain. There are no holes in my abdomen aside from the bandaged incision.

The pain is excruciating right now, even with the medications, but I am so happy that I woke up without an ostomy bag attached to me that I can deal with it.

I got it as a blind buy, because of that same video, and the use of Frankenstein in the movie and I loved it!
