Decided to splurge right away:

Picnic at Hanging Rock (dual format with the book!)
Heaven Can Wait
Night and the City
Young Mr. Lincoln
Rosemary's Baby
Fantastic Mr. Fox (Blu-only)
Forty Guns
The Circus
Cluny Brown
Matewan
Godzilla: The Showa-Era Films

All blind buys except for Rosemary's Baby, Fantasti Mr. Fox, and The Circus. The Godzilla set is so, so gorgeous.

Or maybe you'll like these better (I tend to re-watch these more than my Criterion discs of GDT movies, I'm ashamed to say )

I ordered Now, Voyager, All About Eve and the Flavor of Green Tea over Rice from the B&N sale. Green Tea already shipped! Might pick up a couple more before its over.

Took my first run at the sale yesterday; picked up some new releases along with some that had been on my list for a while.

Probably just a temporary issue. I have PayPal linked to my checking account with a credit card as a backup. I’ve never had funds drawn from the credit card, and I wouldn’t think B&N would care where PayPal drew the funds from as long as they got paid.

Not sure if it was mentioned here, but Target has a B2G1 sale, and many titles are down to $22.99. So 3 titles come to $46 before taxes, or about $15.33 each.

Okay, unusual question for all you Criterion collectors...

What is your least favorite or most regretful blind-buy Criterion purchase?

Mine: Eating Raoul. I even sold it to a Second-hand media shop not long afterwards.

The Big Chill... stellar cast but I just found the whole thing so very obnoxious.

I really liked Eating Raoul btw.

FYE tends to have a limited selection depending on the store.

Dressed to Kill. I had been on a roll with DePalma so far (Phantom of the Paradise is one of my all-time favorites along with Blow Out, also enjoyed the Early Films set from Arrow and Sisters), but I found it to be a repellent film. It's like DePalma typed out the screenplay entirely with one hand. I also find the
[Show spoiler]transphobic and frankly, racist
elements to be distasteful. Especially when William Castle handled the first caveat way more tactfully in Homicidal. Kind of a shame, because it has some incredible cinematography and editing, but it doesn't hold a candle to his next film Blow Out.

It's also funny how much DePalma ripped off from The Bird with the Crystal Plumage. I know he wears his influences on his sleeve like always quoting Hitchcock, but Argento did it better.
