It’s not as good as a flash sale but I Might use it to get Temple Drake/Until the End of the World
I usually wait for the Criterion 50% off flash sale or the B&N 50% off sale but I just couldn't wait for these.....

Saw an unconfirmed report that Criterion has Portrait of a Lady on Fire, has anyone seen anything official?

Edit: Appreaently it was announced via a press release. Trying to track it down. Could be all smoke though.

If it does, and Neon starts working with Criterion, then, jumping to conclusions, there’s a chance for Memories of Murder and Parasite!

It's being released by Neon Films (with Universal distributing), so unlikely.

It’s happening. They also called this the “first collaboration”.

If anyone in the US wants to trade straight up for a similarly priced Criterion, I have a copy of Badlands that's like new and only been watched once.

I am interested in a ton of different Criterions. Almost any Japanese period film, Pierre-Melville film, or 1980s American film that I don't have yet. PM me--I don't mind shipping first if you have a reputation on here.

Quick list of some stuff I'm interested in, but I'm interested in a lot more:

1980s American:

The Big Chill
Blow Out
Blue Velvette
The Breakfast Club
Do The Right Thing
Down By Law
Lost in America
Mystery Train
Repo Man
sex, lies, and videotape

Random:

Eraserhead
Night on Earth

Japanese:

Gate of Hell
Hidden Fortress
House
Kagemusha
Kuroneko
Kwaidan
Onibaba
Rashomon
Red Beard
Seven Samurai
Sword of Doom
Tampopo
Three Outlaw Samurai
Throne of Blood

Four days, still nothing. They split out one item to ship it earlier than the rest, and it's taken so long that they've been recombined again.

I just got my All About Greed. The atrocious packaging was obviously a cost-cutting move so Criterion could pocket a few more dollars while screwing their loyal customers.
What I hate the most are those rubber hubs that are sticky and adhere to the booklet which goes between them. Not to mention how annoying it is removing and putting back the discs. Dammit.

Actually, it almost certainly cost them extra to make the custom packaging for it than put it in a standard plastic case.

I recently paid $250 for the Game of Thrones Complete Series Collector’s Edition and it arrived with a missing disc.

I contacted HBO about sending a replacement disc and because I bought it from Best Buy, they essentially said, “Well you didn’t buy from us...sorry...tough luck.

Made me appreciate how customer friendly Criterion is. Doesn’t matter if you bought it from them or not, they’ll send a replacement disc with no questions asked.

...with Carlos they didn’t even ask me to send the defective disc back.

Maybe just a bit of an overreaction? I don't think Criterion's "greed" was the impetus for the flawed packaging nor do I think they have screwed their loyal customers with this mistake, especially since they have admitted to it and I believe are offering replacement packaging. If you get so worked up by such things, maybe you should take some deep breaths and try to remember that just because you are unhappy over something doesn't mean that someone else set out to intentionally make you feel that way.

I have to agree. My experience with Criterion is they will go out of their way to help you with their customer service. Sure, if you order something, it may not come in two days. Many people have been spoiled by Amazon. You have to remember they are not a major studio but a company specializing in licensed films. They don't have the resources to move mountains, but they are film lovers. You may not like every bit or artwork or article they use, but it is not done by an intern on Photoshop, but by an actual artist or film expert. And as to the "greed": They are one company I hope makes a lot of money and stays in business. When the internet fails and we are all living in a road warrior underground bunker, I want my copy of The Seven Samurai.
