Just like dkelly I have basically all I want from Criterion at the moment. I didn't stray away from my gameplan for the sale, kept it at one order and got it in very early for the Cassavetes and Rossellini/Bergman sets. I did however use some promo credit on Amazon the same day to get Mildred Pierce. It came out to be less than half the already half price while on sale.
Next month for me is only Cranes and Leave her to heaven which are both super solid films. |

The comments about the fast shipping are very true but I have to ding Criterion a little on their emails concerning the sale. I got the announcement of the sale starting but it was delivered approximately an hour and a half after it started. Yesterday I received an email alerting me that the sale was ending soon......two and a half hours after it ended! ![]() |

Both my orders have shipped as of last night but I never got an email for the second one. Disappointed that my big order is by UPS ground and not USPS like the smaller one, it means it will be slower and shittier. Last package I had shipped by UPS it sat in one facility not very far away for two days (Im assuming because they were waiting to hit the delivery date instead of beating it ![]() |

I had a plan going into the sale. I knew I was going to reach the limit for a $50 gift certificate (or whatever it's called), so the first 3 titles I ordered were titles that I was interested in which I thought might sell out. (All 3 of them eventually did). My pre-sale selection plans changed after seeing some titles that others picked up which weren't on my radar ... and then seeing the glowing reviews some of them received.
I'm happy with what I ended up with. But if I would have done better homework ahead of time instead of during the sale, I probably would have bought more titles before they sold out. (It seems quite a few titles sold out, so that has to feel good for Criterion). Like Scarlett O'Hara says, "Tomorrow is another day." |

I usually pick up the titles I want the most at the next flash or B&N sale and with that, there wasn’t much I was dying to own this time around. However, I couldnt let my $50 gift card go to waste (or rather I didn’t want to wait for the next flash sale!) and I blind bought Pasolini titles. I recently did a deep dive into his life and had to finally check these films out; so my order which is on its way is:The Trilogy of Life and Teorema. I have faith in these purchases. For whatever it’s worth, I own Salo and have watched it more than once.
I also can’t wait to check our Abel Ferrara’s Pasolini with Willem Dafoe. Random fact: there is an early video of Dafoe of YouTube where he pronounces his name as “William DAfoe” emphasis on DA. |

Wow, it's been awhile since I last ordered direct from Criterion. By pure chance their flash sale happened to be the same day as my paycheck... so I splurged and nabbed the Three Fantastic Journeys by Karel Zeman set. It's already on the way here and due in sometime in the next couple days.
I swear, few companies can get me the way they do. Last month I hadn't even heard of Karel Zeman (though I wish I had!), and now I'm anticipating this set with bated breath! |

It only dawned on me the next day that I’d forgotten to addA Face in the Crowd. And to make matters worse, I deleted it from my DVR ( TCM player it), so I don’t have it to watch now. I’m looking to sub to the Criterion Channel to watch a few of the Godard-Anna Karina collaborations I don’t have. If Kazan’s movie is on there, I can watch it this week. There are plenty of other titles I wanted, but I’ve been buying a lot of films lately, so I cut down a bit. But I have 21 new movies coming from Criterion, so I really can’t and shouldn’t complain. My fall order is going to be a monster. I’ll add some of the new titles, but my plan is to add a bunch of the older releases I’ve held off on for a while. |
