Director Benh Zeitlin stopped by the Criterion offices! https://www.instagram.com/p/B9HojIgJ...d=zb2imrkj7gu5

I’m sure he’s on press tour for WENDY (which I’m looking forward to seeing) but wouldn’t it be great if BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD came too!

It is? Where’d that news come from? Day 1 for me. Marty having a good year with Criterion!

I saw it last year at my city's film festival & while it was a decent first time effort by Dano, great scenery, I really didn't think that much of it?
But I love Mulligan & to a slightly lesser level, Gyllenhaal, so both together was a must see
I was honestly a little surprised. I saw it in theaters and nobody else was in the audience—I remember it not doing particularly well was around for a week. A few people I worked with saw it and didn’t like it. I liked it, but never thought it would be a criterion disc one day

I didn't even know that was a Netflix original. So they have two Scorsese films in their library, wow. This relationship between them and Criterion is awesome, hopefully they do go back and releases some other titles from past years too.

With all the praise for Adam Sandler in Uncut Gems, maybe Criterion and Netflix could get together and dig out some of his unheralded masterworks like The Ridiculous 6. It's due for re-evaluation.

Netflix would never give those up, they make them way too much money (for real)

I took your advice and watched Get Carter last night before it expired. I won't post a mini-review like I did for the others because it's gone from the service now and there's no point in tempting people with something they can't watch. I'll just say this: What an interesting, very violent, totally bleak and uncompromising crime film, with a cool as cucumber main character in Michael Caine's Carter. I'm glad I watched it.

Alfie is on Prime streaming, so I'll watch that there down the road...maybe.

You should still definitely check out Alfie at some point, it's worth watching.

I noticed this month they have a "Scores by Quincy Jones" bundle with some fantastic films included.

That would be nice. It'd be yet another title from their laserdisc catalog that never came out from them on DVD.

Contact them, I'm sure they'll make it right. In my experiences with them they've always been great to deal with.
