From what I’ve read in reviews, it feels like Bong made the film exclusively for B&W and then had it colored for mass consumption. Guess that’s some praise.

Just snagged 'Stalker' and the Bruce Lee Collection. Went easy this time around as I have a few titles I still haven't watched from the last sale and am also working through the Bergman set that I purchased around the holidays last year.

I somehow doubt CC replaced the gun to be “PC”. That’s just me.

I dunno, I can image them running through this month's final checklist...

The Gunfighter? Check.

Replace the gun on the PLF cover with a stuffed animal cause we hate guns? Check.

The Hit? Check.

Well the stuffed animal is in both, so really they replaced the gun with a cigarette, which I don't think is a lot more PC, lol...

I came on here for an explanation of what the hell the Parasite cover was supposed to be. Morse code, I get it now. Still not crazy about it... Unless maybe if it's a digipack and the dots and dashes are actual holes? That could be cool I guess...

Anyways, excited that release now has a date!
The Gunfighter is also a great western.

A red letter day for Criterion. Scored It Happened One Night for $5 this morning from Amazon, followed by a re-released Pierrot Le Fou announcement combined with four 'will be mine' titles.

I'm close enough to my loyalty GC, which I'll add to my $10 CC Charter GC, to go all in for their Fall Sale.

Not a bad announcement day, though it's a shame theres no horror titles.

My only real disappointment is Parasite getting a release before The Irishman. The 4K of Parasite just came out recently so the film's already out with two editions, yet The Irishman doesn't have a single release yet. I know it's a petty complete since we will get it but even Memories of Murder would've been a more welcome announcement. And that artwork? Yeeesh.

Anyways, semi-rant over. Just wanted to get that off my chest. Very happy to see Pierrot le Fou and The Gunfighter getting announced.

Peter Bradshaw was less positive, but then he isn't my favourite critic either.

It’s when the action moves to the wealthy household that things become less satisfying. We don’t see the house’s magnificent decor in all its richness and out in the garden, the vivid blue of the sky and rich green of the grass are no longer. When violence erupts, the splashes of blood are less overtly shocking in grey.

[...]

There is something very startling about this specialist monochrome-flavour version of Parasite. It gave me a renewed appetite to watch the film all over again. In colour.

A third party seller was selling a bunch of criterion's blu's and dvd's for $5, including It Happened One Night, Bowling for Columbine, Moonrise, Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!, and a few others.

Glad to get Pierrot Le Fou. Definitely wish there were more horror titles and that The Irishman and Memories of Murder(maybe held up by NEON waiting for a theatrical re-release first) got released before Parasite. I adore the film, but I have the current disc so it isn’t an immediate upgrade for me(same with Grand Budapest).

Exactly how I feel. While I do welcome upgrades, I love it when Criterion re-introduce a classic to a new audience. This is easily the most exciting Criterion announcement, for me, this month. I've never seen it, but it's hard to go wrong with James Earl Jones and Diahann Carroll. I hope it's added to The Criterion Channel too.

Just got an email from Amazon, as I ordered all of them when this was posted about, and the seller cancelled them all due to a "technical error".

I would probably pass on those two unless they were massive upgrades from the Eureka and Arrow versions. Now if they could get The Iron Horse I would be super happy, but I doubt that's possible.

Also, not to mention my Bruce Lee set arrived today from the B&N sale. Despite the typical packaging, I was amazed that my set arrived with no damage to the box, though my mail lady does a good job of handling my packages since I am always getting them.

I recently went through Park Circus's listings for Fox films with 4K DCPs not yet on blu-ray, and wondered which titles might be coming from the label:
Kentucky Pride(1925)
The Shamrock Handicap(1926)
7th Heaven(1927)
East Side, West Side(1927)
Street Angel(1928)
Sunnyside Up(1929)
Scotland Yard(1930)
Surrender(1931)
Quick Millions(1931)
Me and My Gal(1932)
Sherlock Holmes(1932)
Hello, Sister!(1933)
State Fair(1933)
Pilgrimage(1933)
The Bowery(1933)
The Power and the Glory(1933)
Born to be Bad(1934)
Curly Top(1935)
Heidi(1937)
Moontide(1942)
A Royal Scandal(1945)
Second Chance(1947)
Call Northside 777(1948)
Unfaithfully Yours(1948)
Apartment for Peggy(1948)
Thieve's Highway(1949)
I Was a Male War Bride(1949)
A Ticket to Tomahawk(1950)
People Will Talk(1951)
The Model and the Marriage Broker(1951)
Monkey Business(1952)
Way of a Gaucho(1952)
Five Fingers(1952)
Teenage Rebel(1956)
The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit(1956)
The Lieutenant Wore Skirts(1956)
A Hatful of Rain(1957)
The Son of Robin Hood(1958)
Fraulein(1958)
The Little Savage(1959)
Murder, Inc.(1960)
Marines, Let's Go(1961)
Bachelor Flat(1961)
Tender is the Night(1962)
The Broken Land(1962)
Goodbye, Charlie(1964)
The Paper Chase(1973)-originally announced by Twilight Time, cancelled due to being promised to another label, speculated to be Criterion at the time
Harry and Tonto(1974)
Dirty Mary Crazy Larry(1974)
The Crazy World of Julius Vroder(1974)
Race with The Devil(1975)
The Turning Point(1977)
A Wedding(1978)

I could see Unfaithfully Yours, Thieve's Highway, Monkey Business, The Paper Chase(for obvious reasons), Harry and Tonto(to go with An Unmarried Woman) and A Wedding. I'd kill for The Turning Point, but I just can't see them considering it, it's a big Oscar prestige flick with some great actors, and would have probably eventually come out through Twilight Time, but it's not the big C's type. A shame, since the more Robert Surtees in HD the better as far as I'm concerned! There's also quite a few re-dos of existing titles, included some not listed there, such as The Longest Day and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, but new-to-blu product is probably a bigger priority. Thoughts on the list?
Maybe titles like 7th Heaven and Call Northside 777 which got overseas releases in France and Germany are possible. Of that list, those are the two titles I would like the most.

I went ahead and ordered Thieves Highway as part of Arrow's sale...I'll do the same if Eureka makes Pickup on South Street available as a 2 for £25.

Screw waiting on Criterion.

I grabbed both of them last year via Eureka and Rarewaves and also got the big Fuller at Box set, so I have two copies of Pickup on South Street. So if Criterion ever get around to releasing those two its unlikely I'll double or triple dip unless the PQ and AQ are miles better.

Awesome news about The Hit. A very well made road film with four perfect performances.

So aside from Pierrot le fou, has Criterion ever released a movie on Blu-ray more than once with different transfers?
